Kourtney Kardashian sparked a furious backlash when she shared a photo of herself holding her young son on a speedboat – leading her to quickly make amends for a potentially fatal oversight
Kourtney Kardashian has been humbled after sparking a furious backlash over water safety and one of her children. The 46-year-old reality star was met with an avalanche of outrage when she shared a post on social media showing her speeding across an open stretch of water with one of her sons in her arms.
The mum-of-four was blasted as an irresponsible parent as many noticed her young child did not have a life vest on. She endured a barrage of criticism from her followers who all highlighted how dangerous her actions were – and the in some states in the USA, she would have broken the law.
The drama was ignited over the weekend when Kourtney took to Instagram to share a collection of photos and video clips of her recent activities. She captioned the carousel of content with a simple statement, writing: “Food for the soul.” It comes after David Beckham ditches his iconic tiny trunks on yacht trip with Gordon Ramsay’s family.

The cover image showed her cradling her child on the back of a speedboat which was skimming across the surface of open waves. But the image drew attention for health and safety reasons – with many fearing for the life of the reality star’s child.
One follower hit out at the TV star, writing: “Protects her son’s face from the internet but doesn’t protect him from possibly drowning…..priorities.”
Another sarcastically commented: “No life jacket??? And the Mother of the year award goes to……”
While a further fan typed: “What no life vests? Isn’t that against the law….???” – with many adding that in some US states, including Idaho, it is illegal for children 14 years old and under to be on boats without a life jacket when the boat is moving.
The outcry glvanised Kourtney into action, who later took to social media to confront her failings and to update her fans that she had taken their warnings and advice to heart. She shared a screenshot of a life vest being bought from a website.
She wrote alongside the snap: “Good looking out. Honestly, didn’t think about some of the dangers.
“Thank you for making me aware and hopefully this helps make other mommies aware of the dangers of certain types of boating without a life vest.”
Kourtney has four children with two different men. She shares sons Mason, 15, and Reign, 10, and daughter Penelope, 13, with her ex-partner Scott Disick, 42 – who she dated from 2006 to 2015.
She is also the mother to a one-year-old son named Rocky Thirteen Barker, who she shares with her current husband, Travis Barker, 49, of Blink-182 fame.
