Rap trio Kneecap have told fans that they have been forced to cancel tour dates due to one of member’s upcoming UK court hearing in relation to a terror charge. The Irish group were due to play 15 shows in the US in October.

The announcement comes before Liam g hAnnaidh, who is referred to as Mo Chara on stage, is set to appear in court. After his legal team claimed the case should be dismissed because of a technical error in the way the charge was brought against him, he will go back to Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 26.

The 27-year-old is accused of holding a flag in support of the terror organization Hezbollah at a concert held at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town, north London, in November of last year. Chief magistrate Paul Goldspring will make a decision at the September hearing when he will determine whether he has the authority to hear the case.

Naoise Caireallain and J. J. Dochartaigh are among the band’s members who have already informed fans that they won’t be playing at their October US shows. They earlier today announced the news in a statement.

The band claimed that the court hearings were held in part because their tour opener was scheduled for the following day. However, they made a promise to travel “even more frequently” in the future.

The band stated in a social media post on Monday that “we have some bad news for all of our fans who are based in the US.” We will have to reschedule all 15 of our October US tour dates because our next court hearing is in London is close to our tour’s start date.

The band continued, “We are sad to deliver this news to tens of thousands of fans, with every show completely sold out.” However, once we win our case in court, which we will, we’ll commit to taking you on an even bigger tour.

They claimed the tour would be refunded at the point of sale. Additionally, Kneecap also stated that they would be “sharing something very special” with American fans the following week, which would mean “we can still connect with you all in October.”

Kneecap confirmed that Canada’s four sold-out October shows will continue. The band will play in Vancouver and Toronto, which also include “free Palestine” in the post.

Belfast-based band formed, and they recorded their first single, “The Band.” The group has released songs like Get Your Brits Out, Better Way To Live, Grian Chatten from Fontaines, DC, and The Recap, as well as their provocative lyrics in both Irish and English.

In April, they made headlines with footage that appeared to show a band member saying “Kill your local MP” at one gig and “Up Hamas, up Hezbollah” at another. The families of murdered MPs have been forgiven by Kniecap, who claim to have “never supported” Hamas or Hezbollah. Avon and Somerset Police said they would not be taking any further action in July despite the fact that they were also being investigated for their set at the Glastonbury Festival in June.
