King Charles III strips Prince Andrew of titles, evicts him from royal home

After being under intense pressure over his relationship with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, King Charles III removed Prince Andrew from his royal residence and stripped him of all of his other titles.

The king “initiated a formal process to remove the style, titles, and honors of Prince Andrew,” according to Buckingham Palace on Thursday.

Andrew will move from his Royal Lodge residence to “private accommodation” following the king’s unusual move, becoming known as “Andrew Mountbatten Windsor” rather than “Prince.”

A British prince or princess has almost never been deposed of that title. The last instance of it occurred in 1919 when Prince Ernest Augustus, a prince of Hanover and a royal in the UK, was ordered to renounce his British title because of his support for Germany in World War I.

After the prince turned down his title duke of York earlier this month due to fresh allegations of sexual abuse by one of Epstein’s victims, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, whose posthumous memoir hit bookstores last week, there was growing demand from the palace to remove him from Royal Lodge.

The king went even further, removing the title of prince that he had held since becoming a child of a monarch, the late Queen Elizabeth II, to punish him for serious errors of judgment.

The palace stated that “these condemnations are deemed necessary despite the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.” Their Majesties “make it clear that their thoughts and greatest sympathies have been with the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse,” the statement reads.

Giuffre’s brother intervened to save his sister, who passed away in April at the age of 41.

An ordinary American girl from an ordinary American family braved the extraordinary courage and truth of her brother Skye Roberts, who released a statement.

After emails that emerged earlier this month that showed he had remained in contact with Epstein longer than he had previously admitted, Andrew was subject to a fresh round of public outcry.

Giuffre, who claimed she had sex with Andrew when she was 17 when Nobody’s Girl, was published after that news. She claimed that Andrew acted as though he believed having sex with me was his birthright after three alleged sexual encounters with him.

After a disastrous BBC interview in November 2019 where he attempted to refute Giuffre’s claims, Andrew, 65, has long denied Giuffre’s claims. He has since stepped down from his royal duties.

After Giuffre brought a civil lawsuit against him in New York, Andrew settled for millions in an out-of-court settlement in 2022. Giuffre’s suffering as a result of sex trafficking was acknowledged by him, despite not admitting any wrongdoing.

Andrew will no longer be a prince or be known as “his royal highness,” “duke of York,” “earl of Inverness,” or “baron Killyleagh,” all of which titles he has held up to this point. Additionally, the Royal Victorian Order’s knight grand cross and Order of the Garter are no longer in place.
