The 72-year-old Yunice Abbas, who was the only other defendant to plead guilty, was also warned that he could face a 10-year prison sentence. He wrote the book I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian while he was imprisoned, which the prosecution received as a gift.
He apologized in a courtroom statement, “Once more, I have nothing but regrets to offer you.” Agat Khedache, who is also known as “Old Omar,” and Didier Dubreucq, 69, allegedly the second robber to break into Kardashian’s home in the city.
Other gang members who, like Dubreucq, had all denied any wrongdoing were asked to receive shorter sentences. Before the jury retired on Friday, the entire gang was given the final opportunity to address the court. Cathy Glotin, 78, who has been referred to as ATKhedache’s mistress, had continued to deny any wrongdoing.
She claimed to the court that she was not involved in the investigation and that she was looking forward to seeing my family together soon. However, it was discovered that she provided burner phones as part of her “secretarial services” to the gang.
The gang’s sentences could have been commuted to 30 years, but they were given shorter sentences due to their ages and poor health. Just three months after the robbery, the majority of the defendants were sentenced to prison. After that, they were released without bail.
