Actor and musician Kiefer Sutherland has been arrested in Los Angeles after allegedly assaulting a ride-hail driver, but he was subsequently released on bail and will appear in court next month

• Actor Keither Sutherland, who played Jack Bauer in 24, was arrested after allegedly assaulting a ride-share driver in Los Angeles, police said. Police said that the British-Canadian star entered a ride-share vehicle not long after midnight on Monday, in the Hollywood Hills district of LA.
• The actor, 59, is said to have “physically assaulted the driver (victim)” and “made criminal threats” towards the victim. The LAPD also confirmed that the driver wasn’t injured during the incident, which allegedly took place at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue. But the cause of the alleged altercation remains unclear
• Sutherland was jailed on suspicion of criminal threats but has since been released from jail on a bond worth $50,000 (£37,000). His first court appearance is scheduled for 8:30am, Monday, February 2, according to jail records. LAPD have confirmed they are still investigating the incident.
• Sutherland went to jail in 2007 after pleading no contest to a drunken driving charge. He was also convicted in 2004 for drunken driving and has had several other alcohol-related arrests since the 1990s.
• The British-born Canadian actor is best known for his longtime portrayal of federal agent Jack Bauer on the Fox TV ticking-time-bomb thriller 24 and several spinoffs. He also starred in The Lost Boys and Young Guns and appeared in two films directed by Rob Reiner, Stand by Me and A Few Good Men.
