The Prince and Princess of Wales are set to make a special trip in the coming days, Kensington Palace has announced. It has been revealed that next Tuesday, the pair will travel north of the border to Scotland, where they will spend a day undertaking a string of engagements in both Falkirk and Stirling.

The couple, who are known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay when in Scotland, will carry out several visits to “shine a spotlight on Scottish heritage traditions and how they continue to connect communities and inspire generations”. One of their stops on the trip will be the National Curling Academy in Stirling, where they will meet with Team GB and Paralympics GB curling teams before they head off to the Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics in Italy next month – and even give the sport a go.

They will also visit Radical Weavers, a handweaving studio in Stirling, which teaches people traditional Scottish tartan-weaving skills and helps tackle social isolation. It comes after the Mirror revealed that mum-of-three Kate has been working with royal aides to create a new programme of public engagements, as well as specific projects for the coming year, which will centre on highlighting the importance of connection and quality human relationships.

The princess is set on redefining her public role by sharing further details of how she approached her treatment plan throughout 2024, by “focussing on joy” as a form of therapy.

William and Kate took part in several joint engagements in Scotland last year, including a two-day trip to the Isle of Mull in April, where they marked their 14th wedding anniversary. They also visited Glasgow in May, where Kate officially named the new Royal Navy warship HMS Glasgow.

Last week, the couple kicked off their official engagements for 2026 by making a surprise visit to Charing Cross Hospital in West London. The couple met healthcare workers and discussed the pressures faced during the winter virus season. It came just days from the first anniversary of the princess’s announcement at the start of 2025 that she was in remission from cancer.

Then on Friday, Kate celebrated her 44th birthday revealing how she spent winter reflecting on how “deeply grateful” she is. In the final instalment of Kensington Palace’s quarterly Mother Nature series, Kate said the cold season has a way of bringing “stillness, patience and quiet consideration”. The princess launched the series in spring as a celebration of the changing seasons across the UK

In a video posted on social media, Kate said: “Even in the coldest, darkest season, winter has a way of bringing us stillness, patience and quiet consideration. Where the stream slows just enough for us to see our own reflection.

“To discover the deepest parts of ourselves. Alongside the whispers in the pulse of every living thing. I find myself reflecting on how deeply grateful I am.

“For the rivers within us flow with ease, fears washed away, cleanse and purify. Come to peace with our tears and discover what it means to be alive. To be at one with nature; a quiet teacher and a soft voice that guides. In memory. Helping us to heal.”

Meanwhile tomorrow, Kate will undertake her first public solo engagement of 2026 by hosting a special reception for the Red Roses at Windsor Castle to celebrate their Rugby World Cup win. The princess, patron of the Rugby Football Union, will be joined by the England women’s rugby team at the historic royal residence on Thursday.

The players and the team’s staff will be given a tour of the castle before joining Kate at the gathering to show off their trophy. The Red Roses beat Canada 33-13 in the World Cup final in September, watched by a record 81,885 people who filled a sold-out Allianz Stadium in Twickenham.
