The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the visiting Washington Commanders 28-7 on Monday night in the National Football League (NFL) with three touchdown passes from Patrick Mahomes.
The Chiefs (5-3) won their third straight game by passing 25 of his 34 passes for 299 yards and overcame two first-half interceptions.

Rashee Rice caught nine catches for 93 yards and a touchdown, and tight end Travis Kelce recorded his best game of the year with six catches for 99 yards and a score. A touchdown run and a catch for Kareem Hunt.
Washington (3-1) lost its third straight game thanks to Marcus Mariota, who replaced Jayden Daniels, who was injured, by 21 of 30 passes for 213 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.
Terry McLaurin returned from missing four games with three catches for 54 yards and a touchdown, but he left in the third quarter after allegedly re-injuring his quad.
Mahomes found Kelce in the flat on the first drive of the third quarter, and the tight end rumbled 38 yards to the 9. Mahomes hit Hunt for a touchdown on fourth-and-goal from the second half to give the Chiefs a 14-7 lead.
The Chiefs threw a punt that resulted in a touchdown drive of 75 yards. With 3:20 left in the fourth quarter, Mahomes hit Kelce for a 10-yard score while going 6-for-6 on the drive.
Washington then crossed midfield, but Mariota was sacked for a 10-yard loss on the final play of the quarter at the Kansas City 38 on third down.
With 7:52 left in the game, Mahomes completed a 13-play, 94-yard drive with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Rice, increasing the lead to 28-7.
On their first possession of the field, both quarterbacks made interceptions.
Mariota threw a fourth-and-1 pass to Washington at the Kansas City 28, but it was incomplete after the Commanders turned it over on downs and Mahomes intercepted it once more.
Soon after Mahomes’ return, Mahomes hit Kelce for back-to-back 11-yard touchdown passes. With 5:46 remaining in the half, the Chiefs took a 7-0 lead after Hunt scored from the 1.
With 58 seconds left in the half, Mariota then drove the Commanders 66 yards in 10 plays, with McLaurin receiving an 11-yard touchdown. Initial rulings for the catch caused the ball to go out of bounds, but a review revealed McLaurin maintained control of the ball by keeping both feet down.
Without Matt Gay (back), Washington was without him. On Monday, the team added Matthew Wright to the active roster and added him to the practice squad.
