Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina has announced a N4 billion investment in consumer goods tagged: “Rumbun Sauki” to promote state-wide food security and economic stability.
The state secretariat, Katsina, held a sensitization and registration program on Wednesday.
Governor Radda revealed that the state government will commence sales with a 10% subsidy for state workers, local government employees, LEA staff, and elderly persons.
He said that operations would begin with seven centres: three in Katsina, and two each in Daura and Funtua senatorial districts.
The governor urged strict oversight measures and warned that any program managers found guilty of violating the law would be subject to the full wrath of the law.

According to the State Deputy Governor Faruk Jobe, vendors would have a turnover of not less than fifty billion naira annually if the initiative had a significant investment of about four billion naira in the procurement of commodities, given the volume of economic activity that will accompany these transactions.
On his part, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Economy Yakubu Danja explained that the commodities to be provided under the program include rice, flour, corn, flour, and spaghetti.
According to Danja, “Rumbun Sauki is not just a government initiative but also a lifeline for families and individuals facing economic hardship,” the items would be packaged in various sizes from fifty to one kilogram.
The program consultant, Shuaibu Mohammed of Strangler Integrated Value Chain and Services, also gave an overview of the registration process. All eligible beneficiaries are expected to sign up online for full access to the commodities using ATM or Moniepoint accounts and online transactions.
