Faruk Jobe, the acting governor of Katsina State, has demanded more military support to bolster the state’s ongoing banditry operations.
At the IOM (International Organization for Migration) function held on Tuesday in Abuja, Jobe and the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, sat down for a discussion.
He argued during their discussion that security forces and the Katsina State Government should work together more closely, noting that banditry still poses a threat to rural communities’ tranquility and safety.
The acting governor claimed that the situation calls for stronger synergy between the military high command and state authorities.
He explained that many rural residents have experienced displacement, loss of livelihoods, and disruptions to farming activities as a result of the threat of banditry.

In his opinion, ensuring their safety involves both revitalizing the state’s socio-economic foundation and restoring peace.
The acting governor emphasized the need for his administration to work tirelessly with all security stakeholders to end the crisis.
Our people are entitled to a safe and honorable life. He declared that until this threat is eliminated, we will continue to cooperate with the armed forces and other security forces.
General Musa assured him that the Nigerian Armed Forces were fully committed to combating banditry in response.
He emphasized that the military has a shared goal of restoring security in Katsina State and throughout the nation.
The Nigerian Armed Forces are determined to expand their presence in Katsina State and other troubled regions, according to General Musa.
We are working hard to solve this problem. General Musa promised that “we will do our very best to bring about the restoration of peace.”
