The Prince and Princess of Wales have shared a new image of Prince Louis to honor him on his birthday today, keeping with tradition, but Kate did not take the photo.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have shared a brand new picture of Prince Louis to mark his birthday – but it wasn’t taken by keen photographer Kate. It has become tradition for pictures of her children taken by the princess to be released on their birthdays. However, the snap shared of Louis today to mark his seventh birthday was taken by professional Josh Shinner.
It is a marked change as last year’s photo shared of Louis for his sixth birthday was taken by his mum. As were the portraits shared of Princess Charlotte and Prince George for their birthdays last year.
However, there have been several occasions when Prince William and Kate have released photos by photographers they have worked with in the past to mark their children’s birthdays. For example, Louis’ fifth birthday snap was taken by photographer Millie Pilkington as the snap featured Kate herself.
Following a photo of her and her children that was reported to have been taken by William in Windsor last year that was released on Mother’s Day last year, Kate was subject to scrutiny last year.
There were concerns that the princess’s first image, which had been released after she had abdominal surgery a few weeks earlier, may have been manipulated before being shared on social media. Later that day, international picture companies canceled it. Kate publicly apologised for the “confusion” in the form of a personal apology for the manipulated photo. She has nevertheless continued to share and take family photos.
Meanwhile, Josh Shinner, who took the new snap of Louis, has worked with the Wales family before, taking the black and white image that featured on their 2023 Christmas card. In an Instagram post after the card was released, he said: “It was such a pleasure to photograph The Prince and Princess of Wales and their family for the Christmas portrait this year.
Without a doubt one of the most relaxed and enjoyable sessions I’ve ever had, and thanks to the kids, I now have a whole new set of jokes that are on par.
His brand-new photo of Louis features him smiling and a gap between his two front teeth. Wishing Prince Louis a Very Happy 7th Birthday! was written on the piece of paper. followed by an emoji for a cake.
The young prince is dressed in an open-necked checked shirt, dark green jumper and blue jeans, with the woodland backdrop showing a carpet of bluebells. The royal family also shared its congratulations to Louis, reposting the image and adding “Happy Birthday to Prince Louis” followed by balloon and celebrations emojis.
Louis, who is infamous for his wacky behavior on the Palace balcony, is now the fourth heir to the throne. He was born on St. George’s Day, April 23, 2018, in Paddington, London’s private Lindo Wing, weighing 8 pounds 7 oz.
