Kate Garraway’s media company reported losses of almost £300,000 last year, which raises new financial concerns for the TV presenter.

Good Morning Britain host Kate, 58, set up Praespero 100 Ltd to handle her media earnings. Accounts just filed to Companies House show it owed £288,122 for 2024. In 2023, it was £165,011 in the red, down from a £36,888 surplus in 2022.

Other than financial management, the business is described as having “radio broadcasting, television programming, and broadcasting activities, management consulting activities, and other business activities.”

It is a further blow to Kate, who racked up debts of £800,000 due to the £4,000 a week cost of caring for her husband Derek Draper in the four years he suffered the effects of Covid before his death, in January 2024, aged 56. She was hit with a tax bill for £716,000 after closing down their psychotherapy company Astra Aspera Ltd with £184,096 of debt.

She reportedly sold a property in London earlier this year to pay off her debts. Kate, who has two teenage children, described how she had to recoup her pension to pay the bills. Her financial affairs are now being handled by London firm Hacker Young.

In March 2024, Kate spoke about her money worries on GMB. She told her co-hosts Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid : “I am ashamed of the fact that I am in debt… because I have an incredible job that I love, that’s very well paid.”

She once called her husband’s care costs “excessive” and “unpayable.” She has bravely acknowledged the difficulties carers face across the UK, claiming that many of them may have found themselves in situations worse than their own.

She stated, “I’m not a carer, traveling miles, paying for someone’s transportation, to go and help them for minimum wage.”

In one of her most gratifying moments, Kate was pictured with her late husband Derek and her parents, Gordon and Marilyn Garraway.

For her contributions to charity, journalism, and broadcasting, she was given an OBE.
