Kate Ferdinand quit the UK earlier this year for a new life in Dubai and admitted she felt ‘like a tourist’ as she enjoyed her first trip back to London since moving abroad in August
Kate Ferdinand was left feeling “like a tourist” in London as she returned to the capital for the first time since quitting the UK.
The 34-year-old former The Only Way Is Essex star fled abroad with former footballer husband Rio Ferdinand, 47, and their blended family back in August. The family, which includes four-year-old Cree, two-year-old Shae, 19-year-old Lorenz, 17-year-old Tate 17, and Tia, 14, moved from London to Dubai.
This month, Kate returned to London and appeared to relish experiencing the city for the first time after being away for months. Taking to social media, the reality star shared a video of herself taking in the skyline from her Waterloo-based hotel, with her room looking out across Westminster and the London Eye.

Uploading the clip to Instagram, Kate added a caption where she hinted she needed tips to things to do. She wrote: “What’s everyone’s weekend plans? What happens in London at the weekends? I feel like a tourist!” – adding a rolling on the floor laughing emoji.
In the video, she shed insight into her recent activities and admitted she was feeling the effects of a night of drinking the day before. She said to the camera: “Morning, everyone. I’m in London! I’ve got a beautiful view of London. I’ve been here for a couple of days. Been so busy.”
She continued: “I look a bit tired, by the way. It’s been a tiring few days, and I’ve been back to back to back, trying to get everything in while I’m here. But I’m a bit tired and had a couple of drinks last night with our friend.”
And she added: “It just feels really, really good to be back. The sun is shining, I’ve missed it here. I’ve really missed it here, so it’s good to be back.” Her update comes four months after Kate had told her fans that she, Rio and their children had upped sticks to move to Dubai.
She wrote: “A new chapter, a fresh start — because if we don’t try, we’ll never know. Ahhh! We’ve talked about this for so long, and now it’s finally real… we’re here. we are making a new home in the place we met!”
Kate added: “Missing some of our specials already & a bit scared, excited & nervous — but more than anything, ready for fresh starts and new beginnings.” Dubai has become something of a haven for high earners in the past year, with the Middle Eastern nation well known for its lifestyle and luxurious restaurants and nightlife.
A host of other celebrities have quit the UK for the sunny climate, with Naomi Campbell moving there last year to set up a new business, and Apprentice star Luisa Zissman. Luisa recently made headlines as she revealed the huge expense it was costing her to ship her horses, her horses Cherry, Champ, Clemmie, Oreo and Jupi, to her new home.
The star documented the flights of her horses and told fans she would be unable to visit them for two days after they landed as they entered a strict quarantine. She told fans via social media: “One of the grooms that was flying with some other horses yesterday took videos of a few of my babies coming off the plane and I am so happy! Because I don’t really know how they are, I haven’t seen a picture of them yet.
“I’ve managed to arrange via the friend who I booked the horses to travel with through, a vet to go and give them all a drip today to rehydrate them after travelling and make sure they’re okay and manage to deliver some food there.”
She also shared screenshots as she tracked the flights taking her horses to Dubai – and told fans how much she was looking forward to having them back in her life.
