Kate Ferdinand made the big move from Southeast London to Dubai with her husband Rio and their kids midway through August, and she has updated fans on their new life there

Kate Ferdinand has opened up about her struggle to adjust to life in Dubai, admitting that it’s been emotionally challenging to be so far away from her loved ones back home.

The former TOWIE star, 34, took to Instagram to reflect on how much she misses her family in the UK, and shared that Sundays have been particularly difficult since her family’s big move.

She shared a sweet snap of her sitting on a leafy green patio with her friend Lucy Trott, writing: “Sundays have been the hardest day of the week for me since moving to Dubai, I’m used to having a full house and I just miss the family so much. Today was extra special spending it with you!”

Lucy, who appears to split her time between Dubai and Essex according to her Instagram bio, is a mum-of-two to her children Blue and Bali.

Kate and her husband, former England footballer Rio Ferdinand, 46, relocated their blended family to Dubai earlier this year. The couple share two children — Cree, four, and Shae, two.

Rio’s older kids, Lorenz, 19, Tate, 17, and Tia, 13, from his marriage to the late Rebecca Ellison, also made the move. Although the Ferdinands are living in luxury in the exclusive Al Barari community, Kate has been honest about the emotional challenges of starting over abroad.

She recently admitted that their new life is “chaotic”, before admitting that it can be exciting at times. Kate shared: “It’s so loud I can’t even tell you, you can’t even hear yourself think.

“There’s a lot of over-stimulation. But also, it’s so special and crazy and loving and loud and everything that you could wish it to be. The bond between the kids is amazing.”

The reality TV star also revealed that her family has tried to maintain a sense of normalcy by sticking to shared mealtimes, even if they can get messy.

While speaking to the Independent, she joked: “It’s mental, there’s food getting thrown about everywhere, drinks are being spilled. But it’s the one time we’re all together, normally.”

Kate regularly shares glimpses of her family life in the UAE with followers, which involves sun-soaked beach days but also intense workouts at her new gym.

She described the move as a “fresh start” for their family in a heartfelt Instagram post when they first arrived. Kate wrote: “A new chapter, a fresh start — because if we don’t try, we’ll never know.

“Missing some of our specials already & a bit scared, excited & nervous — but more than anything, ready for fresh starts and new beginnings.”

Dubai holds a special significance for Kate and Rio, as it’s where they first met almost a decade ago. Two years later, Rio proposed in the nearby Abu Dhabi.
