Liam Payne’s former girlfriend Kate Cassidy has shared unseen footage of the late One Direction star – and shared a heartbreaking update on social media. The young couple dated for two years until Liam’s tragic death at the age of 31 in October 2024.
In the run up to Christmas, Kate, 26, reminisced about the singer as she shared some of her favourite festive-linked memories of him. Taking to TikTok, the model recalled that Liam would order gingerbread men around Christmas time which they would then enjoy together.
Sharing footage of herself in a kitchen, Kate told viewers: “He’d always get so many gingerbread cookies and they were always so weird looking, with one eye up high and another down by it’s leg.” And she went on to share previously unseen footage of them enjoying the cookies together.

Kate and Liam were seen in the video clip, and the singer referred to the gingerbread treats as “The best ever.” Additionally, “the men in question” were captured on camera in her footage as a gingerbread man was positioned. Large, bright-colored sweets served as buttons in the middle of the haphazardly cut cookies, which featured a smiling face, lopsided eyes, and a middle-sized, bright-colored cookie design.
On Sunday, Kate took to Instagram to share a short video clip of herself watching the sun setting on the horizon while beside the ocean. Joined by her dog, the model gazed at the light before bending down to stroke and fuss over her pet.
She wrote the phrase “God said, “This year I made you strong, next year I am going to make you happy,” in a moving and heartfelt message. She accompanied the post with an emoji of her cross finger.
Kate recently admitted to her social media followers that she was still grieving following Liam’s shocking passing. The singer allegedly fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on the third floor. Later, tests revealed that he had drunk when he fell from the balcony to his death.
Kate has stated that any potential partners will have to accept that the For You singer will be forever in love with her. In a TikTok video, she stated, “I want to make something clear. Who I end up with in the future will have to accept that I will always be in love with Liam.
I’ll always be laughing and crying over Liam, as they say. Let me tell you something: Liam Payne was my boyfriend, she continued. To me, he wasn’t just some well-known person. Because I’m constantly being criticized for talking about my boyfriend who passed away, the person I loved and still do love, it hurts so much.
She continued, “I would never allow anyone to make me feel at ease talking about Liam in this lifetime.” My life depended greatly on Liam. I knew I would spend the rest of my life with my best friend, and I knew I would eventually have to move on. One day, I want to marry. “I want kids.
She continued, “People die twice when they actually pass away, and the second time when you stop talking about them.” I won’t have Liam die twice on me. I’ll have a forever love for him.
Many of Kate’s followers have endorsed and encouraged her on social media by leaving comments on her posts. We are always standing behind you, Kate, wrote one Instagram comment after sunset. Grief is not linear, either. It’s undoubtedly acceptable to experience extreme sadness at times. There will also be times when you experience strong and joy. Take both at once. No one experiences the same kind of grief. I love you so much.
Ruth Gibbins, Liam’s sister, recently expressed her shock at learning that his former school had been torn down, while Liam’s family has also been grieving. She stated on social media that she thought his memory was also being destroyed.
She wrote, “It seems like all of Liam is being removed from the planet, all of our places are changing, and he’s not here with him,” and hearing that part of our senior school is being destroyed and having such vivid memories of him waiting by my locker all the time.
