Following a 2-1 defeat by Giavellotto at Kempton, Kalpana is no longer the favorite for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe a month later.

The four-year-old Andrew Balding was a 6-1 favorite on October 5 for Europe’s richest race, but he is now 12-1.

In the September stakes, Giavellotto defeated King George runner-up Kalpana by a length and a half.

On his 30th birthday, Oisin Murphy provided the trainer Marco Botti with a guided home for the winner.

Sprint Cup won by Big Mojo

In the Sprint Cup at Haydock, Big Mojo clinched 16-1.

Big Mojo, who had finished a distant second in the July Cup on his final run, came out on top with a late burst to win this time. He had been trained by Mick Appleby and ridden by William Buick.

Kind of Blue, the second-place entry from last year, came in second once more.
