Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State approved better service conditions for teachers across the state in a decisive move to advance the education sector and reward professionals and dedication.
The minimum age for teachers’ retirement is now 60 to 65 years old as of August 1st, 2025, and the maximum service period is now 35 to 40 years.
Additionally, teachers posted in rural and difficult-to-reach communities will now receive a special allowance, according to the Commissioner of Information, Ahmed Maiyaki.
In recognition of their crucial contribution to national development, Maiyaki explained that the approval is in line with the National Assembly’s Harmonized Retirement Age for Teachers, 2022, which exempts teachers from the general public service retirement age of 60 years or 35 years of service.
He claimed that the Office of the Governor has issued a circular outlining the approval and that Felicia I. Makama, the Permanent Secretary (Establishment), has signed it, directing all relevant institutions to follow the instructions.
According to him, the decision was a reflection of Governor Sani’s unwavering commitment to promoting the education sector and worker welfare.
He noted that the governor believed that skilled teachers were essential to providing the state with quality education and maintaining educational outcomes.
Maiyaki stated, “This policy is intended to honor years of dedicated service, retain untapped experience in our classrooms, and encourage greater productivity for the benefit of our children and the Kaduna State’s future,”
