Juventus won 1-1 at Verona on Saturday, moving them into the top of the table temporarily, while AC Milan defeated Udinese 3-0 to close within a point of the Turin giants.

The men of Igor Tudor’s men were competing to keep the domestic campaign top of mind when Francisco Conceicao scored a long-range effort in the 19th minute.

Before the break, hosts Verona equalized when Gift Orban converted a penalty, and Suat Serdar’s goal in the second half, which VAR defied after an offside in the build-up, gave them hope for their first win of the season.

Tudor, a Juve representative, said Verona should have received a penalty for an elbow on Federico Gatti, while he also felt that Orban should have been punished.

They gave everything they had, according to Tudor, “but I have nothing to reproach my players for.”

Juve looked unimpressed at the conclusion of the match on Saturday after defeating Inter Milan 4-3 last week, then draw 4-4 at home to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League in midweek.

However, they are one point ahead of Napoli in terms of Serie A lead, with champions Antonio Conte facing promoted Pisa and Milan on Monday.

Milan’s star, Christian Pulisic, scored twice in Udine, and French midfielder Youssouf Fofana added another goal.

Five minutes before the break, Pulisic scored the opening goal inside the box before robpping Jesper Karlstrom to score a penalty for Youssouf.

With a counter-attack and Adrien Rabiot’s second goal, Milan sealed the victory in 53 minutes.

After falling to newly promoted Cremonese at home in their season opener, Milan won a third straight game, placing them ahead of Napoli in goals scored, albeit for 48 hours.

Before the final goal, Bologna defeated Genoa 2-1 thanks to Patrick Vieira’s last-gasp penalty.

After squirming down the right into the box, Icelandic midfielder Mikael Egill Ellertsson powerfully headed home Genoa in the 63rd minute.

Bologna were then level with a charming back-heel from Santiago Castro before a handball deep into time added on earned the hosts a penalty and Riccardo Orsolini’s spot-kick sealed the three points.
