Following the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, Justin Bieber, who has won two Grammy Awards, made a trip to Cromars Fish and Chips, a takeaway restaurant in St Andrews, Fife.

Pop megastar Justin Bieber popped into a fish and chip shop in Scotland and sang the menu – but the boss had “absolutely no idea who it was”.

After competing in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, the singer grabbed a bite to eat at Cromars Fish and Chips, a takeaway restaurant in St Andrews, Fife. Even though Charles Mair crooned the menu, his team and his team were too busy to realize the scruffy-looking lad was a pop phenomenon.

We had no idea who it was, Charles, 47, said in a statement from yesterday. Due to the Gleneagles Dunhill Cup competition, we were extremely busy. This customer suddenly started tapping his hands on the counter and singing the menu while we were rushing around.

He was by himself, but he and two of his friends were assisting him with the order. He placed his order, and we prepared the food on time, so he had to wait like everyone else. He was very endearing and helpful. Then we realized who it was. We became extremely busy because Half of St. Andrews was aware of who it was.

Charles said Bieber, who boasts 293 million followers on Instagram, was “respectful” despite the queue in the shop, and was content to wait for his haddock and chips. The Canadian hit maker has since posted a series of photos on social media showing his trip to Scotland – including one taken by a customer of him holding his beer outside Cromars Fish and Chips.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Charles added: “A lot of people came in as well. It was a good, buzzing atmosphere, he was very nice, very respectful. He took it away because there was no space inside unfortunately. We have a takeaway licence, so he was allowed to do that.

“He probably stayed for about 15 minutes.” Because we were very busy, it takes between seven and ten minutes to prepare the fish. To be honest, it was a fascinating experience. He and other customers were both very happy and at ease. Very pleasant and unwinding.
