After sealing a club record-breaking £35 million move from Tottenham, Brennan Johnson will be named in Crystal Palace’s squad for the game against Newcastle on Sunday.

Within the next 24 hours after Johnson finished completing his paperwork for his move to another city on Friday, Palace are expected to make the signing of the Wales international.

Bournemouth were interested in signing the 24-year-old after they were interested in replacing Antoine Semenyo, who had previously attracted interest from Manchester City.

Johnson was persuaded to relocate to Selhurst Park after discussions with Palace boss Oliver Glasner on Thursday.

Johnson’s arrival will surpass the club’s record transfer fee, surpassing the £27 million the Eagles paid for Christian Benteke from Liverpool in 2016.

The forward scored the winner for Spurs in a £47.5 million deal from Nottingham Forest in 2023, putting an end to their 17-year silverware drought with Europa League success last year.

Johnson scored four goals in 22 appearances for Spurs this season, which was a short start under Thomas Frank’s leadership.
