Davina McCall, who is also a member of Masked Singer UK, is praised by Joel Dommett for being “incredibly talented” after dealing with a number of agonizing health issues, including a benign brain tumor and breast cancer, in recent years.
While the rest of us count down to Christmas, Joel Dommett is looking forward to reprising his hosting role on The Masked Singer in the New Year. But as the rumour mill begins to churn over which celebrities will be hiding under the fantastic costumes this time, Joel, 40, is most excited about being reunited with one of the show’s judges, Davina McCall.
He told The Mirror: “She’s unbelievable. She’s become a real good friend of mine.” The seventh series feels particularly poignant as veteran TV star, Davina, 58, is returning to work following a series of terrifying health scares. Earlier this year she had a benign brain tumour removed and last month revealed she had breast cancer surgery.
She has been a lunatic for the past few years, Joel continued. She has just been incredible, has overcome it, and has a lot of it. It couldn’t possibly have happened to someone who was more inspiring, in some strange way.
She has the power to make people feel better about it if someone else goes through one of these things. That makes her superpower somewhat. She simply makes people feel better about what they’re going through.
After the ordeal, Davina and her long-term partner, hair stylist Michael Douglas, got married at Marylebone Town Hall on December 5, 2019. Joel, who will celebrate his 10th wedding anniversary with Hannah Cooper next year, enjoys being with the newlyweds.
She and Michael are very special, and being around them just makes you always feel happier. They are so in love, and it’s beautiful. They possess an incredible aura.
Joel, who has teamed up with King C Gillette on a Christmas gift campaign, will be joined on The Masked Singer with Maya Jama, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan. As an experienced presenter who has just finished fronting another series of the I’m A Celeb spin-off show with Kemi Rodgers, Joel knows it’s rare for all co-stars to get on.
He said, “You have panels in television that are put together, and they all secretly hate one another. We just really like, respect, and love one another on The Masked Singer.
More unmaskings will be on the show next year than ever as viewers have “acceded to the” bizarre format. He said, “It almost seems like figuring out how to make it strange once more.” This year, I believe, we’ve actually found that. I’m very interested in seeing it and learning about these individuals.
The characters we have are brilliant, the characters are fun, and the celebrities we’ve booked are unbelievable, they say. By far, this is my favorite series. It seems like the best series we’ve ever produced, and we’ve made it.
For all your beard and stubble grooming needs, Joel has collaborated with King C. Gillette.
