The Masked Singer UK host admits to being “petrified” about Joel Dommett and his wife Hannah Cooper’s imminent arrival of their second child.
Before welcoming their second child, Joel Dommett and his wife Hannah Cooper are “petrified.” The television personality has been working hard to balance raising his two-year-old son Wilde with his wife Hannah, who is also a father. It has been a busy few weeks for the actor.
And with the arrival of a second child, it appears that things won’t get any calmer. Joel, 40, admits to having a lot of nerves about raising their brood despite being someone who “genuinely loves being a dad.”
“We’re excited, but I think ‘petrified’ is winning in the emotional state,” he told the Mirror. “The idea of looking after one child is one thing, but the idea of another kid being there and you having to look after that one – I just can’t imagine how chaotic it’s going to be.”
The couple, who have been married to each other for six years, have decided to avoid disclosing the gender of baby number two. Joel asserts that “there are no secrets any longer, really.” Therefore, having one thing that you can’t find out about and that makes people excited is quite nice.
The couple consistently appear happy on social media, but the famous person quickly claims that what they publicly share is just a “small snippet” of their lives. He asserts that “communication [in a relationship] is really important.” Making sure you share all of your joys and annoyances and support one another is difficult but worthwhile.
We have a sincere love for one another and respect for one another, according to Joel, who claims that he couldn’t possibly do it with anyone else. And he jokingly admits that since becoming a parent, he and Hannah, 36, haven’t had much time for cheeky snogs.
“I love having a family, I love Wilde to bits, I couldn’t imagine life without him.” Someone who Joel looks to for relationship inspiration is his friend and The Masked Singer co-star, Davina McCall, and her new husband, Michael Douglas. “They’re just so in love, it’s beautiful,” says Joel.
Joel says seeing them together shows him what love is, and that Davina, 58, and famous hairdresser Michael, 58, got married in a covert ceremony in London on December 5th. You always feel happier when you are around them. They possess an incredible aura.
Since Joel and Davina started working together in 2020, they have become “truly good friends.” Joel says he’s impressed by how she handled both her more recent breast cancer diagnosis and her diagnosis of brain tumors, as well as learning a thing or two about love from the TV presenter.
Thankfully, Davina has revealed that she will have five days of radiotherapy this month as a precautionary measure despite being in good health right now. She’s unbelievable, Joseph says. She has been irrational for the past few years. She has just been incredible and has overcome many hardships.
It couldn’t possibly have happened to a more inspirational person, in an odd way. She has the power to make others feel better about it if they are going through the same things. That makes her superpower somewhat. She simply makes people feel better about what they are going through.
Working with Davina, alongside their Masked Singer co-stars Maya Jama, Mo Gilligan and Jonathan Ross, is a genuine joy, says Joel. Which he admits is rare in the entertainment business. “I often say, you have panels in television that are put together, and they all secretly hate each other. We just really respect and love each other.”
Joel is also in charge of counting his fortunate stars. Everyone enjoys working on it, and we all know how fortunate we are to be a part of it. Everyone enjoys the show, from the costumers to the taxi drivers, who are excited because they can’t reveal anything to anyone.
Writing his own script is one of his personal highlights. He laughs and says, “It’s so stupid,” explaining how he spends two hours a day writing the “silliest and most unserious” jokes.
More unmaskings than ever are present in this year’s show. It’s almost like discovering how to recreate it in a strange way. The actors we booked are incredible. By far, this is my favorite series. We discovered a way to include numerous additional, minor unmaskings throughout the series who aren’t necessarily the main 12 characters. The best series we’ve ever produced, in my opinion.
Of course, before settling down in December to enjoy a lovely family Christmas at home, Joel was busy on another mammoth show – co-hosting jungle spin-off, I’m A Celebrity: Unpacked.
Joel claims that the family didn’t have much time to get festive after Hannah and Wilde took him to the South of the country. It’s too early to put up your tree when you leave, as it is on November 10th. You return, and instead of a month and a half, you get two weeks of festiveness.
Joel praised the I’m A Celeb program for securing names like Ruby Wax, Aitch, and Angry Ginge, who would later become the jungle king. He claims that “the Aitch and Angry Ginge circus overtook everything.” He adds that Ruby signed for a star. She always seemed to be funny.
Joel claims to feel “very lucky” by the experiences he has had thus far in his career. And his most recent collaboration with King C. Gillette, both for their gifting campaign and beard care line, is something he’s currently looking forward to. Which is appropriate for a man who has only recently begun to fully embrace his own skin care regimen.
I absolutely love using the King C. Gillette range because it makes my beard look professional for television. He continues, “I really like their beard softener and beard oil, and I use their tinted moisturiser.” I try my best to keep looking fresh for both Hannah and the show as the routine gets longer and longer.
Joel immediately dialed Tom Grennan, who famously sang the song “The Best A Man Can Get in 2023” for Gillette. It has a lot of heritage and is an amazing brand, Joel says.
“Men are starting to moisturise and look after their faces and routine much earlier than they ever did, which is fantastic.
For all your beard and stubble grooming needs, Joel has collaborated with King C. Gillette.
