Five jockeys were forced to make an emergency landing on Glorious Goodwood on day three.
Rowan Scott, Callum Rodriguez, PJ McDonald, Tom Eaves, and Jack Garritty are all in good spirits despite what is thought to be an engine issue on the flight from Bagby Airfield in north Yorkshire.
In the first race, John and Sean Quinn took Magellan Cloud for Scott, who was booked for two rides at Goodwood.
According to Scott’s agent Niall Hannity, “Something went wrong with the plane and they started to get a little panicky, as you can imagine.”
The pilot, who has 25 years of experience, claimed nothing unusual had ever happened to him, but that they were able to turn around and land back in Bagby, which must have been frightful.
“They got back down, and they are all safe now,” the chief executive said. In the simplest terms, I was telling Ron that he wouldn’t be able to ride his horses today and that he shouldn’t worry about that.
“Rowan’s first time in a private plane was his last,” he continued, adding, “and that’s what he said.”
