Joanna Page, the star of Gavin and Stacey, revealed a horrifying incident in a taxi where the driver threatened to remove her clothes.

Joanna Page has opened up on the terrifying moment she was kidnapped by a taxi driver. The Gavin and Stacey star, 48, claimed she was threatened by the cabbie who said they would “take off all my clothes”.

She explained that the driver threatened to take pictures of the star without permission after the 90-minute ordeal ended. She said it was the only time in her life that she had ever believed she was “in the s**t” despite sharing her fear about the circumstance.

The actress said, “This is serious, this is serious,” while explaining what she was thinking. You can’t escape this, you know how. I’m not sure what to do, he said.

Joanna claimed that while being driven around, she could keep the driver talking. She was thankfully returned to her hotel room.

She continued, “I ran straight up to reception after I left the car.” I informed them of everything that had transpired while I was there.

You’re so incredibly lucky, they said. Just never, ever, ever do that again.”

She is said to have been in South Africa when the incident occurred in 2004. Joanna was a part of To the Ends of the Earth on BBC One when she was filming in the country. Additionally, it is said that Benedict Cumberbatch, her co-star, escaped a kidnapping just weeks later.

When Joanna wed actor James Thornton, they tied the knot in December 2003. They had first met in 1999 while watching the David Copperfield movie. Together, Joanna and James have four children.

She has taken legal action to dispel rumors of a possible divorce. Joanna has instead described her husband as “wonderful” because she sets the tone for their relationship.

She told the Mirror that a lockdown joke about getting divorced had been misunderstood. It led to the rumour mill going mad, but she has now moved to explain herself.

She responded, “I just said that Covid was really difficult for us as a family because we argued frequently and that it would eventually lead to divorce.”

“I joked, but this newspaper printed it as though I was saying it.” I didn’t. I adore him without a doubt. He is wonderful.

We don’t go on date nights because I can’t bear to watch everything, Joanna said. And while it’s wonderful, hectic, and enjoyable, James and I can endure a lot of distance without speaking or seeing one another. We can sit down, have a cup of coffee, and then converse now that they are all finished with their studies.
