Susie Dent was so enraged by Jimmy Carr’s filthy joke that guests couldn’t stop laughing in horror as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown came to a halt.
Jimmy Carr runs his riskiest jokes past his 8 Out Of Ten Cats Does Countdown co-star Susie Dent after flabbergasting her with a filthy gag. Jimmy once stopped the show by introducing respected lexicographer Suzie with the line: “Susie what have you been looking into recently, other than glory holes?”
The joke brought the program to a halt because it was so popular. Susie has now acknowledged that she had no idea what Jimmy meant by “glory holes.”
Rachel Riley always claims to know the Urban Dictionary, and I always know the Standard Dictionary, and I miss out on all the innuendo, Susie said.
What have you been looking into lately, besides glory holes, Jimmy said? I didn’t understand what they were talking about until the program abruptly ended, and everyone was laughing.
I had to look it up on the way home, which is true for a lot of the things I find amusing. It was a classic, too. I learned a lot from the glory hole thing.
“But Jimmy is lovely because he asks them to show it to me so I can veto it if he has an intro and feels very strongly about it.” I have not yet withdrawn my veto. That’s not all that makes the comedy, isn’t it? I just wish there had been more “comebacks”
Susie also revealed how she uses the nine random letters to create long, wordy sentences to make famous guests look clever. However, Danny Dyer’s performance was reversed.
She remarked, “I did this for Danny because he kept saying, ‘Oh, I can’t do this.'” And he recognized the nine random letters that had come out, making it difficult to write lengthy sentences. And he assumed that was the definition. Therefore, he only attempted to pronounce “this massive jumble”!
Now Susie has come up with a new word ‘Eufloria’ to celebrate the feeling of receiving flowers on Mother’s Day for Moonpig, who will be delivering cards and flowers to mothers on Sunday.
Eufloria is a celebration of hope, color, and a simple form of joy, she says. Additionally, it serves as a reflection on the sentiments of those who delivered the flowers to us.
Susie, a mother of two, relishes Mother’s Day every year and is unashamedly sentimental about preserving the cards she receives in her memory cabinet along with other keepsakes. “I have a memory box in which I keep cards and other items that might have been worn by children as souvenirs or as shoes when they were younger or whatever.”
And I continue to keep those. The handwritten content is still very much what matters. The writing is particularly emotional-packed.
Moonpig has launched the Eufloria bouquet for Mother’s Day to celebrate that flower feeling.
