Following singer Jess Glynne’s sharing her thoughts with the White House, the airline has since removed the audio from a Jet2 advertisement from a post earlier this week.
Airline Jet2 has said that it does not endorse a post shared by the White House promoting deportation that includes viral audio from its Jet2holiday advert. It comes after Jess Glynne, whose song features in it, spoke out over the post.
A video that depicts people being handcuffed and escorted onto a plane was included in the post in question, which was shared on X earlier this week. When ICE books you a one-way Jet2 trip to deportation, the title read. Nothing can compare to it”!
The caption references the viral audio, included in the video and the original Jet2 advert, in which voiceover artist Zoë Lister says over Jess’ song Hold My Hand: “Nothing beats a Jet2holiday and right now you can save £50 per person. That’s £200 off for a family of four.” Zoe spoke to the Mirror about the original advert going viral recently.

Following the post, which received a lot of social media attention, Jet2 has now addressed the situation. The holiday destination’s representative said the post was “not endorsed by” them and expressed disappointment.
Our branding has become something of a viral phenomenon this summer, according to a Jet2.com and Jet2holidays spokesperson, who spoke to the PA news agency. Similar to how our holidays are, this has brought a smile to many people’s faces.
They continued, “We are of course aware of a post from the White House social media account.” We are very disappointed to see our brand being used to promote such government policy because this is not in our power in any way.
Although the White House’s position was met with some opposition, it has recently received some negative reviews. Singer-songwriter Jess, who previously reported, responded to it on Tuesday following its upload on X, has also contributed.
Jess wrote, “This post honestly makes me sick,” referring to the song Hold My Hand that appears in both the actual Jet2 advertisement and the post. Never about division or hate, she continued, “My music is about love, unity, and spreading positivity.”
The controversy comes after the Jet2 advertisement’s audio has recently become popular. It’s been used in more than 1.9 million TikTok videos, according to PA, and has become a meme on social media, both domestically and internationally.
According to Zo, who has worked on the Jet2holidays voiceovers for seven years, she was surprised to learn that the audio had gone viral. She made a recent joke about how “the best ad campaign ever appeared”
Zoe and Jess met earlier this month on Capital Breakfast to recreate the radio commercial. Jessica mentioned that she is currently playing her song Hold My Hand at concerts because she believes that Zo’s script’s audience is eager to hear it.
Jess explained to the station, “It’s crazy because I feel like when I do my gigs, I feel like when I go to sing the hook, I feel like they’re waiting for me to go,” “nothing beats a Jet2 holiday.” Although it’s tempting, I need to take this seriously because it’s not a joke.
