Jesy Nelson has reportedly split from her fiancé Zion Foster, shortly after the pair opened up about their baby daughters being diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1
Jesy Nelson and her rapper fiancé Zion Foster have reportedly split after four years, just weeks after the Little Mix star opened up about their twin daughters’ rare genetic condition. However, it appears that the 34-year-old singer may have hinted at their break-up earlier this month.
The couple welcomed twin daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, back in May after a dramatic premature birth, resulting in the babies spending weeks in Intensive Care. Earlier this month, Jesy revealed that the twins had been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) – a rare genetic condition that kills the body’s muscles over time.
Jesy appeared on This Morning on 7 January to raise awareness of the condition, telling viewers: “Story has to be on a breathing machine at night because she isn’t strong enough to breathe by herself at night. They have to have Cough Assist machines to help them cough, I have to put feeding tubes down their nose to get secretions off their chest.
“I’ve had to learn this within the space of a few days of getting their diagnosis. It’s so much to deal with while you’re also trying to deal with this horrendous thing that’s just happened.”
During her This Morning appearance, Jesy wasn’t wearing her engagement ring – possibly hinting that the rocky time in her relationship with Zion. Zion proposed to Jesy in September last year, with Jesy flashing a dazzling engagement ring at the time.
The pair have now reportedly ended their relationship, with their focus being on the welfare of Story and Ocean. A source told The Sun: “She and Zion remain friends and are fully focused on their daughters.
“They are fully united in co-parenting. Their priority continues to be the well-being of their daughters.”
At the weekend, Zion shared a moving poem about their twins, calling them “two little warriors” as they battle the disease. Posting the poem to Instagram, he wrote: “They said it’s unlikely you’ll walk, you may not be able to talk, probably won’t be able to hold your head up.
“That’s what me and Jesy heard. SMA type one and it became so clear, doctors only go near what they can measure. So what’s certain? I hear strength in your lungs every time you cry, two little warrior girls who already know how to fight. Honestly, my worry isn’t the milestones. Isn’t forcing life to look a different way. My worry is quieter than that, deeper.”
He added that his worry is about “accepting” and “loving” them for who they are now, “without conditions, no matter what tomorrow brings”.
Jesy also shared an update on the twins, posting a photograph of herself with them on a winter walk.
Ocean and Story were seen wrapped up in matching blankets and hats in their pushchair as Jesy headed out on a stroll with them and a friend.
