Holly Ramsay, who is close to his own daughter, has been unrepentantly defended by Jeremy Clarkson after a columnist claimed the wind made her appear to have been “tangled up in a bedsheet” on her wedding day.
TV star Jeremy Clarkson has jumped to the defence of Holly Ramsay – after her wedding dress was compared to a bedsheet.
Holly, the daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, tied the knot with Olympian Adam Peaty at the Bath Abbey on December 27.
After her big day, Sarah Vine wrote in her Daily Mail column that her dress was “covered by a bizarre lace-edged white satin shroud which might have been designed to make her look romantic and whimsical but which, thanks to the windy weather, just made her look like she’d got tangled up in a bedsheet”.
However, former Top Gear presenter Jeremy, 65, who is close to her famous father, has now supported Holly, 26.
Writing in his own column for The Sun, he said that there was one thing he knows with “absolute certainty”, which is never to say anything negative about a bride’s dress.
Even if it appeared to be a “blancmange,” he continued, saying it loud would be completely inappropriate.
Jeremy, who is currently well known for his Diddly Squad Farm show on Prime Video, said he felt horrified when he read Sarah’s “cruel” comments about Holly’s outfit.
He wrote, “Now look, and explain why he felt the need to say something. Those who stick their heads above the parapet are absolutely fair enough to have a go at it. I consistently do that.
Holly is merely Gordon Ramsay’s daughter, though. Why did you kiss her? It appears to be cruel simply.
“I should state that I’ve known Gordon and his family for some time at this time.” My eldest daughter and Holly are still close friends, and they’ve even been staying. She’s a sweet child, I mean.
And because of that, Sarah Vine should feel ashamed of herself. If you must, talk to the father. but they are his children? No. They should be left alone, especially on their wedding day.
The happy couple reportedly flew to Mauritius for their honeymoon as a wedding gift from Holly’s parents, Gordon and Tanya.
After the presenter also admitted to having motor issues this week, Jeremy’s bullish mood may be to blame.
He claimed that the Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster’s lights went out overnight.
Over the holidays, Jeremy has been driving the fancy pickup truck, but his battery died.
He continued, “I jump-started it and left the battery up while the engine was charging the battery up again, feeling very cross with myself.” The engine is now running without any fuel because I forgot I left it running.
