Behind-the-scenes photos from the Kiss of the Spider Woman set have been shared by Jennifer Lopez. She went platinum blonde for her role in the film and showcased the look on the weekend ahead of the musical drama’s release.

Described as a “dazzling technicolor-hued fantasy,” it stars Diego Luna as political prisoner Valentín, who forms an “unlikely bond” with cellmate Molina (played by Tonatiuh). The latter recounts the plot of a Hollywood musical starring his “favourite silver screen diva,” Ingrid Luna (Jennifer).

As well as starring in the film, Jennifer, 56, is also credited as one of the executive producers alongside her ex Ben Affleck. And she recently gave fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse at production of the project in a post on Instagram.

Jennifer shared a series of photos from the production of Kiss of the Spider Woman on Sunday. They showed the actor sporting platinum blonde hair, including whilst modelling a robe in two photos taken in a dressing room.

The singer, whose character is also known as Aurora in the film, also included a photo of herself in a bath on the set. She’s seen holding up artwork whilst preparing for a scene, with colleagues visible in the background of the photo.

She wrote in the post on Sunday: “Stepping into the role of Aurora felt like dancing through the golden age of cinema … with all the glitz, glamour, and a whole lot of dancing. Stepping back into time has never been so much fun.”

The post has amassed more than 300,000 likes on the platform. A number of fans compared her to fellow singer Gwen Stefani in the comments section, with some saying that they mistook Jennifer for the former the Voice coach.

Natasha Bedingfield was among those who made the comparison, writing: “Omg you look like @gwenstefani. Love you sis.” Someone else reacted: “Thought this was Gwen Stefani at first glance!” Another fan replied: “Me too!”

Jennifer, who was also compared to the late Marilyn Monroe with her blonde hairstyle, was met with compliments in the comment section. One fan responded to the post: “Love her as a blonde.” Another said: “You look amazing.”

A third wrote: “You look so beautiful and wonderful. I can’t wait to see your newest film in theaters.” Sharing their thoughts, someone else said: “Always serving talent and elegance.” Whilst another fan wrote: “Wow Jlo so beautiful.”

The film, due to be released on October 10, is based on the stage musical of the same name, which is itself based on the novel by Manuel Puig, published in 1976. It’s the latest screen adaptation following Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985), which starred William Hurt, Raul Julia and Sônia Braga.
