Jennifer Lawrence has opened up Jennifer Lawrence so far, admitting that she has found the experience ‘brutal’.

The Hunger Games actress welcomed her first child, a son named Cy, with husband Cooke Maroney in 2022, before becoming a mum for the second time earlier this year – with the couple yet to share the name of their second child.

Jennifer is currently at the Cannes Film Festival to promote her new movie, Die, My Love, which stars Robert Pattinson and centres around a mother, played by Jennifer, who is struggling to maintain her sanity as she battles with psychosis.

And drawing on her own experience with two children, Jennifer shared at the film’s press conference: “Having children changes your whole life — it’s brutal and incredible.”

She continued, “Not only does it go into every decision of if I’m working, when I’m working and where I’m working. My job has a lot to do with emotion; they’ve opened up the world to me.”

While Jennifer can draw parallels from her own life and her on-screen roles, particularly ones which centre around motherhood, she assured that she keeps a fine line between the two. “I’m not an actor who brings the work home,” said the star.

Jennifer and her art director husband Cooke – who have been putting on a loved-up display in Cannes this week – have been together since 2018, meeting in Spring that year before getting engaged less than twelve months later.

She said: “He really is, and he gets better. [In the beginning], I started with the basics, you know, ‘How do I feel? Is he nice? Is he kind?’ … It’s just this is The One, I know that sounds really stupid but … We wanted to marry each other, we wanted to commit fully and he’s my best friend and so I want to legally bind him to me forever.”

Before they welcomed their second child, it was reported that the couple weren’t 100% sure about growing their family.

A source told Us Weekly at the time: “At first they weren’t sure if they wanted another one because it’s so much work, but they’re obsessed with Cy and love showing off videos to their friends and family. They’ve started warming up to the possibility of a second.”
