After her mother and her partner Eddie Rothe passed away, Jane McDonald made an open letter about the challenging decision to sell the Wakefield bungalow she had owned for 20 years.

Jane McDonald has revealed she’s had to sell the beloved Wakefield bungalow she had called home for two decades.

The much-loved singer and television personality made the decision after the heartbreak of losing her mother and fiancé within a span of three years. Jane, 62, made the the tough choice to part ways with Cleevethorpe House, the £1million five-bedroom detached property she had spent years lovingly renovating.

Jane’s mother Jean passed away just days before Christmas in 2018, an event that Jane likened to a ‘light in her heart’ being extinguished. Tragedy struck again in March 2021 when her fiancé Eddie Rothe sadly lost his battle with lung cancer at the age of 67.

When Jane was only 17 years old, the two romance rekindled in 1980, and Eddie proposed later that year.

Jane claims that she had to give up the house because it served as a painful reminder of her losses. It was challenging for me. She told the Daily Mail, “There was too much history there.”

The Yorkshire-born Loose Women presenter has since purchased a smaller house in the same area, along with a seaside retreat where she spends much of her time. She shares: “We all need peace in our lives and I’ve got that now.”

Sue Ravey, Jane’s close friend, and Jane now live together in a special way. The two met as singers in their 20s and have since collaborated on Celebrity Gogglebox on Channel 4’s Celebrity Gogglebox.

Sue and Jane moved into the Wakefield bungalow after Eddie passed away. She’s still my girlfriend, and we’ll be visiting the coast in January. We continue to work together. It performs flawlessly.

When Jane had to sort through her decades of possessions, many of which were deeply traumatic, it wasn’t simple to relocate.

You’d be surprised at how much stuff you have, Jane said. Seven more skips are needed! I embarrassed myself. You must let it go completely. Sue, however, is fantastic. She’ll ask, “Why are you keeping this? “. Take a screenshot of it, and discard it.

Jane had previously welcomed her family to her former home for Christmas parties, but this year she chose to do so with her friends.

She said: “No cooking for any of us. Everyone always came to us for Christmas dinner mainly because we had the biggest table and enough room to fit everyone in. Times change and you have to change with it. I’m now making new traditions. Let’s be honest, grief hits everyone eventually and if we could turn the clocks back to big family Christmasses, I’m sure we all would. But we can’t, so I’m moving forward.

The positive aspect of grief is freedom, they say. I am now free to make my own decisions regarding what I want to do. I had to work through that, but I’m now accepting it.

This comes after Jane, who was spotted holding back tears in a beloved Jane McDonald: Lost in Japan episode last year after being given a future-predicting emotional fortune prediction.

The former cruise ship singer received an O-mikuji, a traditional Japanese paper strip that depicts one’s fortune, while filming for the Channel 5 show.

Is there anything Negative in there? Jane expressed some reluctance in the tour guide’s response. The guide reassured the star that any misfortune could be easily avoided while she was reading out her fortune, but warned her of a potential negative outcome.

When Jane opened her paper to reveal her daily horoscope, she emotionally said, “Wow. I feel so at ease with my family and I on the spring fields.

Wow, that is actually quite emotional, isn’t it? Jane fought to hold back her tears as she went on. You could see almost everything as if you could easily drive downhill, “she continued.” Work hard and have faith that the rain that the heavens give you will bring about success.

She expressed before asking, “So this is good luck,” and she was right. The tour guide confirmed this, and Jane breathed a sigh of relief as she said, “Thank goodness for that, I was a little worried about that.
