James McEachin, a frequent co-star of Clint Eastwood and Perry Mason, passed away at the age of 94. The actor passed away in January, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and has been buried in Los Angeles National Cemetery since April.
The Columbo actor is best known for his roles in Clint Eastwood’s films Bluff (1968), Play Misty for Me (1971), Every Which Way But Loose (1978), and Sudden Impact (1983). James also appeared in numerous television shows, including Ironside, Tenafly, Dragnet, It Takes a Thief, Mannix, The Wild Wild West, Hawaii Five-O, and All in the Family. Between 1986 and 1995, he also acted as Lt. Ed Brock on television with Hal Holbrook and Raymond Burr.
On the first season of Matlock, he reprised the role of police lieutenant Frank Daniels. On The Rockford Files with James Garner, he also portrayed FBI agent David Shore.
James appeared as a guest on Hill Street Blues, Emergency!, Columbo, TJ Hooker, St Elsewhere, Murder, She Wrote, and Police Story. He also wrote a number of books and was an actor.
In addition to his books, Tell Me a Tale: A Novel of the Old South, Farewell to the Mockingbirds, Farewell to the Mockingbirds, The Heroin Factor, Say Goodnight to the Boys in Blue, and Swing Low My Sweet Chariot: The Ballad of Jimmy Mack, a memoir, were published in 1996.

James served in the military before beginning acting. He nearly passed away as one of only two survivors of the ambush of his unit in Korea, according to reports.
He wasn’t even aware that he had won a prize for his service until a congressman in California discovered his Silver Star years later.
He also received his Purple Heart at that time. Before beginning to produce music, he worked as a police officer and fireman when he returned to the United States.
