Two years after his split from ex-wife Chloe Madeley, former rugby player James Haskell is reportedly being considered for Celebs Go Dating, with E4 bosses making a play for him to appear

James Haskell, the former rugby star, is rumoured to be in the running for Celebs Go Dating, following his split from wife Chloe Madeley two years ago. The pair first met 11 years ago and they tied the knot in December 2018.

Their three-year-old daughter Bodhi came along in August 2022. But by August 2023 the pair had separated after five years of marriage and a decade together, with the news being made public in October that year, amidst a tumultuous divorce.

Post their split, the 40 year old sportsman briefly dated Big Brother’s Sara McLean, but they called it quits just two days after making their relationship public. Now, James seems ready to jump back into the dating pool and try his luck on the popular Channel 4 programme, according to reports.

A source has claimed to The Sun: “James has been single – bar a few fleeting flings – since he broke up with Chloe and his mates want him to get back into the dating game. E4 bosses have made a play for him to appear in the next series.” They added: “They think he’d be brilliant because he’s not only a decent name for them, he’s genuinely very funny and they think he could charm the ladies.”

While no official agreement has been reached yet, it’s reported that the star is mulling over the opportunity. He previously opened up about how the ‘the worst bits’ of dealing with the split are kept away from social media. Discussing their relationship on This Morning, James said: “Chloe is an amazing mum, an amazing woman. She is so talented and smart, and brilliant at what she does.

“When you get separated, obviously, because we live our lives in the public eye in some respect, basically you put yourself out there and sometimes people look to you to see how you behave in those situations, and for me, when you separate, the priority always becomes the child and your egos don’t matter.”

“We’re able to co-parent in a way, sometimes is good, sometimes is bad, that’s what happens. But we do it constructively for our daughter. I think it’s important to talk about it. A lot of men reach out to me on social media and go ‘Listen, I’m separating, I’m having this, I wonder how you do that, I’ve seen that.'”

He continued: “I think sometimes social media can give you a false image, sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad. You never post about bad stuff. You’ve got to take everything with a punch of salt.” Speaking about Chloe, he said: “She always had my back. She’s got my back now. She’s always great like that. Our daughter is amazing, and hopefully you can keep that process, it’s not always straight forward. But you’ve got to try!”

The couple announced their split in 2023, at the time Chloe released a statement, which said: “James and I mutually decided separate at the end of September, 2023…. Our sole focus now is our beautiful daughter. We shall continue to co-parent with nothing but love.” While James wrote on social media: “It’s with a lot of sadness I write this post, but unfortunately, in the world we live in, it has to be done. My priority is my daughter’s and Chloe’s happiness and security. For that reason, I won’t be commenting any further.”
