Jake Paul to fight Gervonta Davis, WBA lightweight boxing champ, in Atlanta

Promoters announced on Wednesday that Jake Paul will face the unbeaten Gervonta Davis in an exhibition bout that will be streamed live on Netflix at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 14.

Since Devin Haney vacated the belt in 2023, Davis has since won the WBA lightweight title, but Paul, a YouTuber-turned-boxer, will not be competing for the American’s title due to the size difference.

Before his victory over Mexican Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June, Paul, a cruiserweight, weighed 199.4 pounds (90.45 kg), while Lamont Roach fought Lamont Roach in March at a weight of 133.8% (60.75 kg).

The weight limit for the fight has not been disclosed in any particulars.

“Yes, he’s one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world, but my motto is to fight any situation, at any time, anywhere. And I like my chances, Paul wrote on X.

Paul has a record of 12 wins and one defeat while Davis is unbeaten in 31 professional fights, winning 30 and drawing one.

Prior to Wednesday’s announcement, Paul had been in talks with Anthony Joshua, a former Olympic gold medalist and two-time unified heavyweight champion, and the two had been in discussions.

On November 15, 2024, Paul and Mike Tyson squared off in one of his most famous boxing encounters.
