Jack Osbourne may have questioned the poignancy of his behavior on the ITV reality series I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here in a recent conversation with food blogger Kelly Rizzo.

Jack Osbourne may have hinted at the devastating reason behind his behaviour on I’m A Celeb several months after the death of his father, Ozzy Osbourne. In a chat with food blogger Kelly Rizzo on his Trying Not To Die podcast, pre-recorded before he entered the jungle (shared on December 2), Jack opened up about how he approaches grief by keeping busy.

In a devastating blow earlier this year, on Tuesday, July 22, it was announced that heavy metal pioneer Ozzy had sadly died, aged 76, only weeks after taking part in a farewell gig with Black Sabbath.

Since then, Jack has joined the all-star line-up of I’m A Celeb alongside such names as rapper Aitch and Emmerdale’s Lisa Riley, but he recently became the subject of complaints from a fellow campmate.

On Tuesday, EastEnders actress Shona McGarty, who had the job of cooking the kangaroo meat after securing eight stars in a trial, was annoyed when Jack and co-star Ruby Wax decided to get involved, with the comedian raising concerns that the corn had been “overdone”.

Jack told Shona the best method to cook the potatoes and instructed her to keep the flies off the meat. He then confessed in the Bush Telegraph that he finds it “difficult to just observe”, a habit that the star apparently also has at home, much to the annoyance of his wife.

Yet, in remarks on the podcast that could suggest a more poignant reason for this behaviour, Jack spoke about grief with Kelly, who described the first couple of months after the death of a loved one as feeling “disorienting”.

Jack acknowledged that there had been instances where he felt like he “must do something” to distract from the sadness following Ozzy’s passing (who would have celebrated his birthday on December 3).

Jack responded, “Yeah, and it’s strange, too, because like I… I felt like I had to, like, “I got… oh, I gotta, you know, make sure the family’s good,” which is how I felt. I need to take on some stuff, really. I need to try to steer the ship a little bit through this, I know.

He continued, “But it’s like having those moments in between when you need to do something or occupy, you know, this chaos with a task,” and when you don’t, you feel like you’re going to slump, right?

When you’re just being kind of normal and not acting in any way. But it’s a trip, yes.

Shona herself responded to Jack’s comments about food by saying, “Some of the comments on there tonight were getting on my t**s, I’m not going to lie. I could have poked Jack with a stick today.

Meanwhile, replying to Ruby, Kelly Brook questioned whether leaving corn to cook for longer would actually make it “sweeter”, to which Ruby responded: “Can’t make her happy”.
