Speaking at the London premiere of A Minecraft Movie on Sunday, Jack joked it felt “cray cray” to be joining the SNL team again.

He told Variety he is “having lots of nightmares and night terrors and also fond memories flooding back”. And when he was asked his thoughts on how the writer’s room on the show will go ahead of broadcast, he said: “You know what they’re thinking about right now?

” They are just all in a dead coma from last night’s show. Maybe some of them are thinking of some ideas, but I’m really thinking it’s one of those shows they put together in one week, that’s part of the excitement. “

It will mark the fourth time Jack will have hosted the long-running show. His last outing came in December 2005 when he used his stint to promote Peter Jackson’s King Kong movie.

Ahead of his latest release, Jack admitted there has been one movie he starred in which he regrets. He revealed he wasn’t “proud” of the production and would rather forget about it.

Confessing his inclusion on the 2001 film had him feeling like a” sell out”, Jack revealed he wishes he avoided it, despite it receiving plaudits at the time.

Shallow Hal saw the actor star alongside Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow. Jack played the role of Hal, a man who despite not having the perfect physique himself, was obsessive and picky about looks when trying to find a girlfriend. Hal is then hypnotised to only see inner beauty.

When he meets Gwyneth Paltrow’s character – which saw the actress don a fat suit for the role, Jack sees her as a slim, conventionally pretty woman. Her appearance is said to have mirrored her kind personality and loving nature. However, to the rest of the world, she’s seen as a plus-sized woman and treated poorly due to her size.

While the movie does have a positive message about looking at people’s inner beauty, many have criticised the film as being fatphobic, relying on humour based on Gwyneth’s character’s size. The character of Rose breaks chairs, empties swimming pools when she dives into them, and is seen eating massive amounts of food.

In 2006, Jack explained his reasons for taking on the part, but also expressed his regret in doing so. He worked with the Farrelly brothers for the film, who are known for creating comedy movies such as Dumb and Dumber and There’s Something About Mary.

Jack said:” I had an opportunity to work with some dudes I thought were really funny, but it didn’t turn out as I’d hoped. I wasn’t proud of it, and I got paid a lot of money, so, in retrospect, it feels like a sell-out. “His comments were echoed by Gwyneth, who previously called the movie a” disaster”.

In an interview with the Guardian, she revealed what it was like to wear the prosthetics for the role”. The first day I tried the fat suit on, I was in the Tribeca Grand, and I walked through the lobby, “she said.

” It was so sad. It was so disturbing. No one would make eye contact with me because I was obese. I felt humiliated. For some reason, the clothes they make for women that are overweight are horrible. I felt humiliated because people were really dismissive. “
