One of Lorraine’s regular experts started taking Mounjaro last year and has since lost a huge four stone and gone down by three dress sizes

Regular Lorraine guest Claer Barret has revealed she’s lost four stone and gone down by three dress sizes after taking the Mounjaro jab. The financial expert said she took a “calculated risk” when decided to start the jabs, and also consulted Lorraine’s resident doctor Dr Hilary Jones as well as her own GP before she started on the medicine around a year ago.

Giving an update on the Lorraine show on Wednesday, December 10, during a segment with fashion expert Mark Hayes, Claer said, “None of my clothes fit me any more. In my head I am a size 20 whereas in actual fact I am a size 14. I could go into any high street store and I know you have got the style points, Mark, to give me the edge I need.”

Lorraine, 66, proceeded to praise Claer for being transparent about her experience and joked, “one of the big changes when that happens is that most of her old clothes don’t fit anymore, nice problem to have!”

She continued, “You don’t just take the jab and that’s it, you have to actually change your lifestyle, you have to exercise more and eat properly, and that’s what you did, and look at the results – it’s wonderful.”

Claer previously revealed she decided to take the jabs after learning she had a Body Mass Index of 37. The NHS puts 37 in the “obese range”, which can lead to complications such as type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke and certain types of cancer such as bowel and breast cancer.

“Anything 30 or over you’re in the danger zone for diabetes. I wasn’t pre diabetic, but that was something I was very worried about,” Claer said earlier this year. “I had a rogue high blood pressure reading when I was under a lot of stress at work, and it just made me think. I write about longevity, about retirement, about healthy life expectancy.”

She continued, “I took a calculated risk, you might say, I knew there were side effects to these drugs. I had various chats with Dr Hilary, but I also made a beeline to my own GP.”

AS well as taking the injections, the financial whizz also totally overhauled her lifestyle as part of her transformation and said the biggest side effect she has experienced was “not feeling hungry and thinking about food all the time.”

Earlier this month the manufacturer of Mounjaro – which is a brand name for the drug Tirzepatide – launched a five-year trial in Manchester to study the health benefits of Tirzepatide..

The trial will study up to 3,000 people and was set up by by US pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly, the makers of Mounjaro, and the UK government to address public health challenges like obesity.

When the trial was announced last year, Martin Rutter, Professor of Cardiometabolic Medicine, University of Manchester and principal investigator for the Greater Manchester study, said: “This five-year real-world study aims to demonstrate the long-term efficacy and safety profile of tirzepatide in a primary care setting compared to usual care.

“It will specifically quantify the medicine’s long-term effects on obesity, diabetes incidence, and obesity-related complications, as well as its impacts on employment and health economic outcomes.”
