After falling to Leinster 24-20 in the United Rugby Championship, Ulster head coach Richie Murphy says there is no excuse for “wallowing.”
At the Aviva Stadium, Ulster took a 17-7 half-time lead with two scores from Werner Kok and a Tom Stewart try.
However, Leinster rallied as James Lowe and Dan Sheehan crossed for the hosts to win the game. The hosts were assisted by a strong bench.
We never really got our game going after the second half, Murphy said to Premier Sports.
“We probably abandoned what we did in the first half, and if you give a team like Leinster some field position, they can play on top of you and try very hard to come back.”
Ulster have had a fantastic start to the season, but this is their second defeat in a row.
Leinster suffered a second league defeat of the season after losing to Cardiff in the Challenge Cup after a much-changed side lost by a 14-point lead.
They still lead Leinster, one place ahead of them, and they will face Connacht in Galway after Christmas.
“We can’t waste too much time pondering this,” the statement read. Murphy continued, “We have to take it all in and move on.”
We discussed that last week, but it’s now a second defeat in a row. We want to make that change a little bit more frequently.
