Following the quiet end of their long-running marriage, Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen have finalised their divorce and it looks as though the Australian actress is embracing her single life already
Just days after finalising her divorce from Sacha Baron Cohen, Isla Fisher has posted a very playful Instagram story featuring three shirtless firefighters cuddling puppies.
The muscled trio, dressed only in yellow fire pants, flashed grins, and abs at the camera. In the caption, Isla, 49, cheekily penned: “Look at those cute puppies,” as many saw it as a nod to her newly single status.
Isla and her now ex-husband Baron Cohen officially ended their £120 million divorce on Friday. The former couple shared identical messages online: “Our divorce has now been finalised. We are proud of all we’ve achieved together and, continuing our great respect for each other, we remain friends and committed to co-parenting our wonderful children. We ask for the media to continue to respect our children’s privacy.”
The pair had quietly split in 2023 after over two decades together, later announcing their breakup in April 2024 with a humorous photo of themselves in tennis whites. The accompanying caption read: “After a long tennis match lasting over 20 years, we are finally putting our racquets down.
“We have always prioritized our privacy and have been quietly working through this change. We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.”
They first crossed paths at a Sydney party in 2001. Reflecting on their first meeting, Baron Cohen said: “We were at a very pretentious party, and me and her bonded over taking the mick out of the other people at the party. I knew instantly. I don’t know if she did.”
Though once seen as one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples, they’ve now parted on peaceful terms. A source close to them noted: “It’s all sorted. Now Sacha and Isla both just want to get on with the rest of their lives – and focus on their family’s well-being.”
When speaking about her separation in a recent interview, Isla said: “I’ve learned so much about myself in the process. I never imagined my family being separated, but we are committed and loving parents.”
She told the Sunday Times: “Kids are the most important thing, and you want them to really feel safe and loved. We are building a new, healthy version of what our family looks like and putting as much care and love into it as possible.”
But it looks as though Isla has a good network of friends around her to help with the transition of being married to being single. She went on to explain: “The women in my life have held me … the female relationships that I cultivated in our business, those women have been there for me. I’m actually going to get emotional.”
“I’m sitting here today because of them. I’ve learned so much about the power of female friendship and I’ve just learned that I do have resilience, who I am outside of a partnership, and what my values are. It’s been this expansive learning curve,” she added.
