IPL returns – but who needs what to reach play-offs?

Six teams are still in the play-offs stages, with 12 more games still to go in the league phase.

Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad are all out of the mix.

Bengaluru Royal Challengers

Sunrisers Hyderabad (h), and Lucknow Super Giants (a) are the standings.

Gujarat Titans

Second Played: 11 Points: 16 Maximum points: 22

Capitals of Delhi (a), Super Giants of Lucknow (h), and Chennai Super Kings (h) are the only remaining opponents.

The Gujarat Titans won their final three games to earn them a play-off spot, which was top of the table during the delay.

Three victories would result in Jos Buttler and the Titans achieving a top-two position, avoiding the elimination and granting them two chances to reach the final.

Kings of Punjab

Third Played: 11 Points: 15 Maximum points: 21

Rajasthan Royals (a), Capitals of Delhi (h), and Indians from Mumbai (h) are the only remaining teams in action.

Two wins from their remaining three games will also guarantee Kings of Punjab make it to the play-offs.

Indians from Mumbai

Position: Fourth Played: 12 Points: 14 Maximum points: 18

Remaining fixtures: Capitals of Delhi (h), Kings of Punjab (a)

Indians from Mumbai are fourth and have played a game more than their rivals but have the best net run-rate of all of the teams this year.

Capitals of Delhi

Fifth Played: 11 Points: 13 Maximum points: 19

Remaining fixtures: Gujarat Titans (h), Indians from Mumbai (a), Kings of Punjab (a)

Capitals of Delhi resume just outside the play-off places.

They would be successful if they received three victories, and two would place them just in the mix.

Super Giants of Lucknow

Position: Seventh Played: 11 Points: 10 Maximum points: 16

Remaining fixtures: Sunrisers Hyderabad (h), Gujarat Titans (a), Bengaluru Royal Challengers (h)

After six matches, Lucknow was third in the standings, but they now only have the worst of the possible advancements.

They only manage 16 points, so they rely on other outcomes and have the worst overall net run-rate of any remaining contenders.

The play-offs begin on May 29 between the teams that placed first and second in the league standings. On June 3rd, the winner enters the final.

The third and fourth-placed teams will then compete in the elimination on May 30.
