Invincibles become MI London as Hundred deals completed

Following investment from Mumbai Indians’ owners, Oval Invincibles will be renamed MI London starting in the following season.

The England and Wales Cricket Board in January gave Reliance Industries Limited a 49% stake in the franchise that has produced five The Hundred titles.

The ECB has confirmed that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly’s investment in Trent Rockets was finalized in October, and the deal, which is worth about £60m, has now officially been completed.

After the sale of the other six franchises in July, all eight hundred and one sides’ stakes have been sold, which indicates that all eight hundred and one deal has been completed.

Under Reliance’s ownership, the team now plays alongside MI Cape Town in SA20, MI Emirates in the United Arab Emirates’ International League T20, and MI New York in Major League cricket in the United States under the name change.

The first team from the MI collective of teams to be renamed, with the rest franchises established under their current names, is the Invincibles, who won the women’s competition in 2021 and 2022 and the men’s competition in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Reliance’s franchise teams in India and other countries have had great success with their cricket and business expertise, according to the company.

The Hundred will switch to an auction format for granting franchise players, with the move coming as a result.

A settled squad that won three straight men’s tournaments for Invincibles is likely to disintegrate as a result of that switch.

Mumbai Indians are the joint most successful team in Indian Premier League history, winning five titles, thanks to Reliance’s franchises, which have enjoyed great success worldwide.

In two of the competition’s three seasons, the women’s team from Mumbai, MI New York, and MI New York both have victories in Major League cricket.

In the most recent SA20 competition, MI Cape Town won, while MI Emirates won the 2024 ILT20 title.
