The Prince of Darkness finally made it back to Birmingham, his cherished hometown, to fulfill his final wish before passing away surrounded by his loved ones.

Ozzy Osbourne died on Tuesday morning at the age of 76, with his devoted wife Sharon and family by his side. The rock legend endured a string of health battles leading up to his death, having being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019 and undergoing multiple back and neck surgeries.

He was desperate to perform, and he spent years arguing that a drink-binge caused him to become numb in one of his legs. And his final months revealed how much of a physical impact the diagnosis was having on him.

The Black Sabbath frontman tragically struggled to recall the exact details of his final years in an interview three months prior to his passing, but he unflinchingly referred to them as “the worst of my life.”

The Changes singer worked tirelessly to make sure he was well enough to play one last farewell show at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5th.

Sharon, the star’s wife, stated in the lead up to the knock-out show that “Ozzy works with his therapist daily.” He’s actually doing really well. Because of his fans, Ozzy’s top priority in life is to be ready for them, making this show the ideal ending. “

The rocker later revealed how exhausting his training regimen was, telling The Guardian: “I do weights, bike riding, and I have a guy living there who works with me. I’ve been laid up for such a long time, and it’s difficult. Your strength is the first thing I need to go after lying on my back and doing nothing. It’s like resuming everything.

“I’ve got a vocal coach coming round four days a week to keep my voice going. I have problems walking. I also get blood pressure issues, from blood clots on my legs. I’m used to doing two hours on stage, jumping and running around. I don’t think I’ll be doing much jumping or running around this time. I may be sitting down, but the point is I’ll be there, and I’ll do the best I can. So all I can do is turn up.”

Concerns about his health remained rife; it has now been revealed that Ozzy was having his heart monitored “15 times a day” in the lead up to his final Back To The Beginning show.

However, he was able to pull off a staggering £140 million for charity in the performance. Ozzy thanked fans from the bottom of my heart as he sat on a dreaded throne with a bat (he once bit the head off of a bat on stage), unable to stand up or move as he once did. “

In his later years, Ozzy Osbourne was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

The star’s “final bow” featured legendary performances from Metalicca and Guns N’ Roses, two of his all-time favorites.

Ozzy was quietly filming a documentary about the Osbourne family’s long-anticipated return to the UK after more than 20 years in America in addition to his gig preparations.

The BBC One docuseries, which would have featured the rocker’s wife Sharon and their children Kelly and Jack, was heartbreakingly never finished.

Before Ozzy’s health started to decline, the legendary couple had spoken about wanting to relocate from Los Angeles to the UK. The Black Sabbath star admitted to having “a desperate desire to return home,” but his family’s return was agonizingly delayed as a result of his Parkinson’s battle and various surgeries.

After having “horrendous” spine surgery in 2019, the star hit his lowest point. According to Ozzy, he prayed to pass away while he was sleeping, as The Guardian reported. The following morning, you wake up to discover that something else is wrong. You start to believe that this will never come to an end,” he said.

Sharon had a plan in motion to bring her husband’s spark back to his hometown as a result of her spirited rant. As soon as doctors finally granted him permission to return home, the legendary performance soon became a permanent fixture for Sharon and Ozzy.

As he got ready for his final performance, he said, “It’s time for me to spend some time with my grandkids.” The actor expressed concern for his own passing, saying, “I don’t want to die in a hotel room somewhere.” The rest of my life should be spent with my family. “

The couple’s plans for a farewell concert were unfortunate because Ozzy passed away just weeks after his last performance, so they had to settle back in their Buckinghamshire home to coincide with the occasion.

Our family has to announce the passing of our dear Ozzy Osbourne this morning, according to a statement released by the family announcing his death. He was surrounded by love and his family. At this time, we ask that everyone respects our family’s privacy. Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis are the members. “

A location stamp, which stated that Ozzy had made it back home for one last time, was placed before the brief message, which read “Birmingham, England July 22, 2025.”

Ozzy’s death has not been linked to any injuries, though it is believed that his health, including his heart, had been hampered in recent months.

Ozzy poignantly considered his own mortality while speaking to Rolling Stone magazine in 2002. I’ve accomplished a lot for a typical working-class man. He said, “I made a lot of people smile.”
