Wayne Bridge and KSI have a nasty feud that isn’t going to stop.
Wayne, a former Chelsea and Manchester City player, and the YouTube sensation and Britain’s Got Talent judge, were scheduled to square off against him next month. With only a few weeks left, Wayne abruptly withdrew from the sport. On March 29, they were scheduled to square off in a Misfits boxing match, but KSI’s cruel retorts prevented them.
When KSI, real name Olajide William Olatunji, made the inappropriate comments about Wayne in the ring last month in Manchester, they had first met. In front of a sizable audience, KSI made fun of Wayne’s former girlfriend and her alleged relationship with John Terry’s ex-teammate.
Wayne, who is now married to The Saturday’s Frankie Bridge, previously dated French model Vanessa Perroncel while playing for Chelsea. Their relationship ended due to allegations that John Terry, his teammate, allegedly had an affair with Vanessa, who denies the allegations.
In an effort to understand his rival, KSI teased, “Aren’t you the guy who let John Terry smash your ex? ” KSI later resurfaced the sandal. Wayne replied: “You want to go there straightaway do you”? KSI continued: “I’m pretty sure that’s what you’re known for”. The BGT judge started a chant of ‘ Vanessa woah, Vanessa woah’, referencing the former footballer’s ex-girlfriend, who shares a son with Wayne.
Following the altercation, Wayne declared that he wanted to keep his family safe from such remarks and that he would seek a second ring challenge in the future. He said he would not fight for KSI in March and that “many of you have seen what took place on Saturday night at the Misfits Boxing event.”
” Firstly, I think it’s important that I explain my reason for accepting the fight. I always like to challenge myself. On a large stage, this presented itself as a good opportunity to face off against a fascinating opponent. I’ve always enjoyed boxing as a regular exercise. I had everything I needed to work out and enjoy myself. Of course, I expected to face some criticism, but I feel like what was said on Saturday crossed a line. These remarks have a profound impact on both my and the other families involved in the situation. My top priority is always going to be my family, so I put that first.
He continued, “My opponent is someone that many children around the world, including my kids, look up to.” I hope one day he will look back on this differently. I personally don’t want to be involved in these situations. On March 29, I’ll stop fighting. I have some exciting things coming up in 2025 and am still optimistic about my next big challenge.
Jaydon Jean Claude Bridge, the son of Wayne and his ex-girlfriend, was born in November 2006 after their romance, which they had been having from 2005 until 2009. Frankie and Wayne embarked on their relationship in late 2011 and they welcomed their first son together, Parker, in October 2013. They married the following year and then welcomed second son, Carter, in August 2015.
Last week, KSI spoke out following his taunt to Wayne as he refused to apologise. In an interview with Ariel Helwani, KSI said:” When I’m on stage, I’m on there essentially as a character to, I don’t know, I was just trying to create pay-per-view, create drama, create action. I wished he would hate me. I wanted him to instantly be like, ‘ What? This guy. What is he doing? F*** this guy. I want to knock him out. ‘
“I didn’t expect him to actually pull out completely. Because I’ve been the target of numerous accusations and abuses, I was merely trying to rile him up. I’ve met him before, and I was fairly civil, but I’m not sure what to make of it. I actually met him in a YouTube video, and we were chill. No anger, no hate towards each other it was all bless. However, it’s obvious that I’ll try my hardest to defeat you while also making this event a reality. I’m going to make this as large as possible, and I’ll set up buttons to rile you up. That’s just it”.
