Get Me Out of Here Because I’m A Celebrity! Ruby Wax, the mother of Ruby Wax, has had a distinguished and distinguished career in the entertainment industry, with her children following their parents’ footsteps.
I’m A Celebrity star Ruby Wax was a huge signing for the show for 2025 having carved out a career in showbiz spanning multiple decades. The famous face is known for her extensive work on TV having become a household name in the UK throughout the ’80s and ’90s.
However, Ruby isn’t the only famous face in her family and also has two nepo baby daughters who have joined her in the world of showbusiness. Ruby, 72, was born in Evanston, Illinois on April 19, 1953, and has had a career as a well known comedian, actress, author and host for over 40 years.
Before getting her own chat show, Don’t Miss Wax, Ruby was well known for her role in the mid-’80s British sitcom Girls on Top. She then launched Ruby Wax Meets in the 1990s, where she spoke with a number of well-known people, including Imelda Marcos, Pamela Anderson, and Madonna.
She also appeared in the screenplay and editing for Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley’s huge 90s sitcom Absolutely Fabulous. Ruby frequently discusses her own experiences in detail and is a staunch supporter of mental health.
In 1988, Ruby wed producer of television and film Ed Bye. Ed was well-known for his contributions to numerous top-rated TV programs, including Red Dwarf, French &, Saunders, and Absolutely Fabulous. Ruby was married to Trevor Walton from 1981 to 1986 and Andrew Porter from 1976 to 1980 before Ed, who was her third husband.
Ruby and Ed share three children, a son, Max, born in 1988, and two daughters, Madeleine who they welcomed in 1990, and Marina who was born in 1993. While Max has avoided a life in the spotlight, with Ruby telling the Mirror in 2020 that her son works as a “coder,” her daughters have followed in their mum’s footsteps.
The duo host their own comedy podcast and Marina has also worked as an actress starring as Pandora Henry in Prime Video’s The Girlfriend. She has also appeared in the Hulu series We Were The Lucky Ones, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy and Wonka.
Maddy has also appeared in motion pictures like Breathe, How to Talk to Girls at Parties, and A Caribbean Dream. The two girls enjoy working as a pair and have a strong emotional connection.
Ruby explained to The Guardian about her 2017 children, saying, “Madonna is a comedian, and Marina is an actress. Siblings, the comedy show that Mama and Marina have just started, is available.
I wouldn’t encourage them, but they are, if they weren’t funny. When they gather for dinner, [brother] Max starts crying because he can’t stop laughing.
Since then, Maddy and Marina have given a number of one-off shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2020, Mariana addressed The Guardian about their performance. She said, “You speak the same language when you’ve lived with someone your entire life and haven’t gotten pregnant.”
You are able to distinguish between one another’s rhythm and humor. It seems like we could finish each other’s sentences when Maddy and I joke together. We never collide or interlude with one another.
I was given the opportunity to participate in I’m A Celeb 2025 a long time ago, and I thought, “No, I could never do that,’ but now it’s the right time,” Ruby said. I enjoy engaging in risky activities.
Because you can’t hide in the jungle, it will be nice for people to know who I really am. Before, I appeared quite aggressive and pushy, and I believe it was all my nerves. I speak in a manner that isn’t aggressive. Even though it appeared as though I wasn’t confrontational, I wasn’t.
