Adam Peaty has been accused of ‘forgetting where he comes from’ as it’s claimed his sister Bethany is now the only member of his family attending his wedding next month
Adam Peaty’s mum has reportedly been banned from his wedding to Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Holly next month. The bitter feud is said to have started after Adam’s mum Caroline wasn’t invited to Holly’s swanky hen do at Soho Farmhouse.
This was despite Holly’s own mother Tana Ramsay being included, as well as close family friend Victoria Beckham. But her future mother-in-law was apparently snubbed from the family event.
Instead the 59-year-old is said to have stayed at home in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, to look after her five-year-old grandson George, who Olympic swimmer Adam shares with his ex Eirianedd Munro. While Adam invited future father-in-law Gordon, also 59, to his stag do.
Caroline’s sister – and Adam’s aunt – Louise Williams, has since vented her anger at 25-year-old Holly, who she accused her of being “divisive and hurtful” in a public social media post. This is thought to have upset influencer Holly, who has been dating Adam, 30, for more than two years.
Writing on Instagram, Louise blasted Holly over the snub to Caroline, who she says “opened her home and heart to you”, claiming it had inflicted “a hurt on my sister that will take a very long time to heal if ever”.
In a dig at Holly, she posted: “@hollyramsayy I’m so glad that you had a great hen do. As a bride, you deserve that. However, as a person you were divisive and hurtful towards a woman, who I have loved and continue to love deeply.
“A woman who opened her home and heart to you. You decided, for whatever reason, not to invite her, your prospective mother-in-law to your hen night yet Adam invited his father-in-law, your dad, to his stag night. You invited your mum (quite rightly) and even your mum’s assistant, your sisters, your friends, my niece, but not my sister, your future mother-in-law.
“I have also seen messages passing between her and Adam about this and other matters and, quite frankly, I expected better of you and definitely of Adam. You have inflicted a hurt on my sister that will take a very long time to heal if ever.”
A source said to be close to Adam’s working class family claimed the snub happened after the Olympic gold medallist – who wouldn’t have a career without his hard working parents steering him to glory – became “seduced by the fame and glamour of the Ramsays”.
After his aunt’s post, MailOnline reports that Adam sent his “heartbroken” mother – who he was once very close to – a message banning her from the wedding which is due to take place at Bath Abbey over Christmas.
He is also said to have stated his intentions to disown his family in messages seen by the publication and said his mum would not see his son George or any future grandchildren ever again.
Though the rift between Adam and his mother – who used to get up at 4am to drive him to swimming practice before going to work herself – is said to have been brewing ever since Adam began dating Holly.
It’s said that initially Caroline and her husband were invited to the wedding, along with other family members, and she excitedly bought a dress. But Adam and Holly reportedly didn’t like it so offered to buy her a new one they did approve of.
Adam is thought to have paid for his parents to visit Bath on the train to go shopping, which they accepted, but the trip couldn’t happen due to the train stabbings in Huntingdon two weeks ago.
A source told the Mail that instead of rearranging the trip “Adam went mad” saying they had “wasted his money” and he “wouldn’t be able to get a refund” despite the fact he is a millionaire.
Caroline’s kind offer to get involved in the wedding and make table setting name plates, as she is good at crafts, were also said to have been declined by Holly and Adam – and she was apparently told her help was “not needed”.
The source said: “Adam has changed so much since he’s been with Holly. She comes from a celebrity world, while his parents do not, and his ego and self-importance have grown. He’s no longer the lovely boy next door we all remember. It’s partly because Adam doesn’t feel his family is good enough for the new one he is now part of.
“Caroline is devastated by the rift and doesn’t know what she has done wrong. Adam’s relationship with his mum and dad Mark are at an all-time low, and now she’s not coming to the wedding.
“‘They feel that Adam started to grow distant from his family after he met Holly and they started to become more serious. There is a feeling that money is an issue. His family are working class and proud – it’s a stark contrast to the Ramsay family and some members of the family have said it feels like Adam is ashamed of them.”
Now it’s thought that only Adam’s sister Bethany is attending the wedding as nobody else in the family can afford the hotel costs. And it doesn’t sound like Adam has stepped in to foot the bill.
Caroline has responded to the fall out in her own Instagram post which said: “Crying is a way your eyes speak when your mouth can’t explain how broken your heart is.” The Mirror has contacted reps for Holly and Adam for further comment on this story.
