After David Beckham’s son’s wedding in 2022, which caused a rift in the family, David and his eldest son Brooklyn have had strained relationships.
For years, David Beckham and his eldest son Brooklyn Beckham appeared to have a strong father-son bond. From football matches to red-carpet events and family holidays, the Beckhams once presented a united front. But in 2025, that public image has fractured into one of the most talked-about celebrity family rifts of the year – played out not in private correspondence, but on Instagram timelines, holiday posts and social media blocks. Most recently, Brooklyn blocked his entire family on Instagram – a move that has been dubbed “personal” by experts.
Relations among the Beckham household appeared to become strained when Brooklyn began his relationship with Nicola Peltz, with a series of alleged feuds leading up to their extravagant wedding in 2022.

missed family gatherings
Brooklyn, now 26, missed several significant Beckham family gatherings, including his father David’s celebrations for his 50th birthday in May, as the first public indications of strain showed earlier this year.
After disagreements over party arrangements involving his brother Romeo’s girlfriend, who happened to be his ex-girlfriend, he decided to avoid going, according to the time reports. However, it wasn’t just a coincidence that he wasn’t absent. Another milestone that only heightened speculation about a growing family rift was that Nicola Peltz Beckham and Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz, were absent from David’s knighthood ceremony at Windsor Castle in November 2025. Despite the distance, attempts were made to bridge the gap on social media. In December, David shared throwback photos of his children celebrating an MLS title win with the caption “Licence to cry” in what some insiders thought was an extension of his separated son.
block social media
But in mid-December 2025, the situation escalated dramatically when Brooklyn reportedly blocked his parents – David and Victoria Beckham – and his brother Cruz on Instagram. Without using social media to communicate, all involved found the rift playing out publicly.
Cruz Beckham, 20, clarified the situation on his own Instagram story, denying earlier reports that their parents had unfollowed Brooklyn. His statement read: “My mum and dad would never unfollow their son… Let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked… as did I.” As a result, none of the immediate Beckham family members were following each other on the platform, and Brooklyn’s social media became largely devoted to posts about his wife, their life together, and personal interests.
separate vacations
This Christmas marked a big difference for the Brooklyn family. Rather than spending the festive season with his parents and siblings in the UK, Brooklyn and Nicola spent Christmas with Nicola’s parents in the United States. On social feeds, while the Beckhams shared festive family images in the Cotswolds, Brooklyn posted affectionate pictures with Nicola, including a Christmas Eve shot captioned “My everything x” alongside a tattoo tribute to his wife.
First indications of a rift
Although the most dramatic and recent chapter of the conflict occurred this year, the Beckham family’s conflict has continued. Rumors first surfaced about Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding in 2022, when reports suggested Victoria Beckham and Nicola had a disagreement over the wedding. Both families have largely declined to comment on the allegations directly. Brooklyn’s social media posts over the years also heightened the tension by missing family gatherings, birthday celebrations, and other times. Even though he acknowledged relatives outside the immediate family, he noticeably did not post for specific Beckham milestones, such as his father’s birthday, Mother’s Day, and other celebrations, in public timelines of social interactions.
The most recent post by David Beckham
In one of David’s most recent Instagram posts, he lists his favorite moments for 2025 in a roundup. His other two sons Romeo and Cruz as well as his daughter Harper were depicted in this. Unfortunately, Brooklyn didn’t appear in the image gallery. He continued, “I feel very fortunate to have had a year like my 50s to my knighthood and then my owner winning the MLS.” Without you all, I’m so grateful for my amazing wife, my amazing kids, my friends, and the team I work for every day.
Reconcilation
There have been sporadic signs of goodwill despite the growing estrangement. Sharing family stockings with Brooklyn’s name and liking a cooking video he posted on David and Victoria’s social media accounts included flimsy signs of hope for reconciliation.
Despite the fact that no one in the family follows him on Instagram, it appears his block is still there.
