Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, and their son Nick had attended a Christmas party held by Conan O’Brien just hours before they were brutally murdered at their home
Everything to know about Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party
- Hollywood legend Conan O’Brien threw a Christmas party on Saturday night, with countless stars turning up at his home to celebrate the festive period. Guests included Jane Fonda, Bill Hader, and of course, Rob and Michele Reiner. They attended with their son, Nick, who wasn’t invited, but his parents asked if he could attend the party.
- It’s claimed that a man wandered around the party “interrupting” conversations to ask who the attendees were and if they were “famous”. Local media reports that many in attendance had begun questioning whether the man, standing at 6 feet 3, had wandered in from the streets – unaware his parents had been invited.
- It’s claimed that Rob and Michele had become increasingly aware of Nick’s behaviour in recent weeks and didn’t want to leave him at home alone. He had been staying in the guest house at their Brentwood mansion.
- But as Nick started to interrupt conversations, it’s reported that Bill Hader explained that he was engaged in a conversation with somebody else. This is said to have led Nick to glare at the American comedian and actor.
- However, things turned awkward after shouts were reportedly heard across the room, with all eyes turning towards the people arguing. It’s claimed that Rob and his son, Nick, had become engaged in an argument due to the latter’s behaviour. This led to Rob and Michele apologising to Conan for the disruption before they decided to leave the party. However, it is not known whether Nick left with his parents.
- Nick is believed to have checked into the Pierside Santa Monica at 4am, and staff reportedly discovered the shower “full of blood,” as well as a trail leading from his bed and bedsheets. 11 hours later, his parents were found dead in their home at 3:30pm by their daughter Romy. Their throats had been slit in a gruesome murder. The time of their death is yet to be confirmed but police have stated the couple had already been dead for several hours, meaning they could have been killed on Saturday night, or early Sunday morning.
- Nick, 32, has since been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. The charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. The Los Angeles County District Attorney, Nathan Hochman, said that no decision has been made as to whether prosecutors will seek the death penalty. He added that charges are “not evidence” – as the evidence will be something presented in a court of law.
