While Holly Ramsay and Adam Ramsay Peaty enjoy post-wedding bliss, a new “snub” has emerged: one of the Olympian’s pals has posted a cryptic message about being “dropped.”
It seems as though it wasn’t just the Adam Peaty family who were snubbed from his wedding to Holly Ramsay – as one of the Olympian’s close friends has also been left ‘devastated’ over the whole saga.
Adam, 31, married Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Holly, 25, at a lavish ceremony at Bath Abbey on December 27, but amid a “toxic” family fallout, his nearest and dearest were all left out of the big day except his loyal sister Bethany, who was also one of Holly’s bridesmaids.
The former GB champ fell out with his mum Caroline in the run-up to the wedding, leaving her ‘broken’ as she missed her son’s big day. And now it’s been claimed that Adam’s fellow swimmer friend Michael Gunning, who trained alongside Adam in Team GB, was also also uninvited from the wedding – something he “never saw coming”.

Michael shared a cryptic post on social media just before the wedding, which read: “Wishing everyone a magical and festive week! This year has been crazy… I’ve travelled the world, had incredible new opportunities, learnt more about myself, made mistakes and taken risks, been dropped by friends, but made unexpected new ones, been told ‘no’ far too many times but stepped fully outside of my comfort zone.
If you had told me two years ago where I’m now, I wouldn’t have believed you because life isn’t always perfect. But I’m learning that change can be a really beautiful thing and you should never stop fighting for your dream! “
Given that the sportsman had already attended the couple’s engagement party, Michael’s absence allegedly resulted from his choosing to support Caroline, Adam’s mother. Some of Adam’s family’s involvement in the wedding feud has been felt by some old friends, according to a source who spoke to The Sun. Michael was once very close to Adam and Holly and even attended their engagement party last year. However, he was denied entry to the wedding because he had grown too close to Caroline, who has spoken out against her separation from her son.
They continued to claim:” The family have been in touch with him and he said he is feeling very hurt by the couple – especially Adam, given how publicly supportive he was of Adam when he went through a rough time in 2023. Michael would have never known this coming given how close they once were. Adam really broke us all by acting in this manner, and Michael, the most kind and sincere person on the planet, has now done it to hurt and disparage him. It’s clear how much Adam has changed. “
Michael appears to have always been an avid supporter of his former Team GB pal, especially when Adam was first announced on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021. Michael gushed over his support for the swimmer on social media – showing just how close their friendship was. He wrote: “We have an exciting few month coming up because it’s just been announced that Adam will be competing in Strictly Come Dancing this year! I can’t tell you how EXCITED I am. It’s going to be a blast! Make sure you vote to keep our swimming champ in the competition!”
But this isn’t the first time Adam’s friendship with Michael has hit a rocky patch, as previous reports claimed Michael felt “betrayed” when Adam’s swim academy AP Race – which was founded by Adam and his training partner Ed Baxter – expanded to Saudi Arabia in 2024.
Michael, who came out in 2018, is known for being the first openly gay and mixed-race swimmer in the UK. Similar sex relationships are prohibited in Saudi Arabia, with some people receiving death sentences. The Saudi Arabia decision, according to a source, was a hit in the heart for Michael, who fights so hard for LGBT rights.
“It left him feeling devastated and betrayed”, a source said. Michael hasn’t been an outspoken AP Race spokesperson since August of last year, when AP Race purchased the Wave Swimming Academy in Saudi Arabia. Many people in the swimming industry were so upset that Michael no longer made the AP Race team.
In the build-up to their lavish wedding, Adam and his influencer wife made their loyalties clear when they jetted off on a Christmas holiday to Finland with Holly’s famous parents, while his family were nowhere to be seen. The former Olympian also seemingly didn’t celebrate his mum Caroline’s 60th birthday.
Caroline has been very vocal on her heartbreak over the feud, recently admitting said she has ‘ lost a piece of herself ‘ and is ‘ praying for peace ‘ in 2026 after the fallout. The heartbroken mother claimed just before Adam and Holly tied the knot that she thought the couple had “cut out her heart” over the nuptials, which were reported to have started when Caroline purchased a dress for the big day that the bride and groom chose not to wear.
The Olympian’s mother shared two cryptic posts that appeared to make reference to her rift with her son days after Adam and Holly said, “I do.” The first was a sketch of a robin and a ladybird sat together on a twig with the words written below: “Just a little reminder that you don’t have to make resolutions, or huge decisions, or big proclamations. You can simply set up some kind of intentions and “take it as it comes” with each day.
I won’t end this year by pretending everything’s alright,” said the second quote. I lost a piece of myself this year that I will never get back, and I’m not forcing a smile like it didn’t change me. So … I won’t repeat that 2026 will be my year. I’ll be praying that I recover next year, that my heart never has to break like this again, that I never have to survive something like this again. I’ll be pleading for peaceful, peaceful peace that allows me to breathe naturally. I owe it to myself to have a good year.
And Adam’s decision to change his name seems to have added more salt to the wound. Adam, who reportedly went by Ramsay Peaty, debuted his new title on Instagram last week. Newly released photos from his nuptials, shared by Vogue, show the same namesake scrawled across the couple’s wedding stationary – including a sign that read ‘ Ramsay Peaty’s Bar’.
One expert cautions that Adam, who has distanced himself from his distraught parents in recent months, wouldn’t have taken it lightly. It appears to have been made long before the big day itself. If the rift isn’t soon resolved, then Adam will have to make an ongoing, potentially life-long series of difficult decisions, according to body language expert and communications specialist Judi James.
” A fall-out with family means murky, heart-breakingly complex calls about everything from sending birthday cards to making visits during illness or crisis. Every choice will be painful, and each decision will have a significant impact on both sides.
“Adam’s name change appears to have been one of them, and it’s probably cost him a lot of angst to get “right.” Of course it’s possible and even likely that his blending of the two names was merely done in his capacity as a modern man who makes no assumptions about his wife automatically taking his name, but so much depends on optics and perception during any family crisis and, by adding his wife’s name, not in the more usual double-barrel, and putting it first, it could easily be seen to be symbolic of moving his own family name further away. “
