Insecurity: Kwara Residents Protest Kidnappings, Others

Residents of Lafiagi in Kwara State’s Edu Local Government Area took to the streets on Monday to protest what they claimed was worsening community insecurity.

They lamented that they had been the victims of numerous kidnappings and murders.

The protesters expressed frustration with the government’s continued impunity in the face of continued violence, mainly among the area’s youths.

In a video clip, they were spotted chanting “solidarity” songs and waving placards and pleading for immediate action to stop the bloodshed and abductions that are ravaging daily life.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) office in Lafiagi was also set on fire by the angry youths who also vandalized the Emir of Lafiagi’s palace, breaking windows and injuring the structure.

In the video clip, a resident said, “We have been crying and dying in silence.”

Every week, people are kidnapped, according to the report. Nobody, not even the governor, chairman, or Emir, is doing anything about it, the resident continued. We don’t sleep with both eyes closed.
