After suffering a hamstring injury while taking the third Test against England, spinner Nathan Lyon is doubt for the rest of the series.
Lyon, 38, who won the series by becoming Australia’s second-highest test wicket-taker in the Adelaide Test, was hurt diving in the field on the final day before the visitors won.
He immediately left the field with his right hamstring clenched and refused to continue playing.
After appearing in one of the series’ first two Tests, Lyon took two wickets in Adelaide’s first and second innings, respectively.
He claimed he felt “filthy” after being excluded from the second Test in Brisbane despite only having two overs in the first Test of this series.
Lyon has only five days until the fourth Test, which will start in Melbourne on December 26 (23:30 GMT, December 25), before returning home.
Five days after the fourth Test was over, the final test in Sydney will take place.
One of the greatest spinners of all time, Lyon, suffered a calf injury during the second Test of the 2023 Ashes, which significantly contributed to England’s comeback against England, who lost the series 2-2.
