Despite the injury to his right foot, India claims Rishabh Pant will be able to bat if needed later in the fourth Test but that he won’t be able to keep the wicket.
Pant, 27, was hurt on day one of Old Trafford when he was struck while batting.
Pant will continue to wear the gloves for the rest of the Test, just like he did when Pant broke a finger in the third test, but Pant has already arrived on the field for day two and is “available to bat as per team requirements.”
After play resumed on Thursday morning, he was seen in his whites in the dressing room.
After the blow that occurred when Pant attempted to reverse sweep Chris Woakes, he was unable to walk and took the field in a buggy the previous evening.
The flamboyant left-hander, who was one of the series’ players prior to his injury, returned to play in September, almost two years after a car crash that nearly cost him his life.
